Hackman, an award-winning author of The Firebrand Chronicles and the Stardust Hearts series, who loves thunderstorms, fuzzy socks, and thick chocolate milkshakes. Her engaging fantasy and soft science fiction stories are threaded with hope and always end with a happily ever after. While her characters are fearless, J.M. is afraid of spiders, wasps, and the crowds at post-Christmas sales.

I actually love that last one because I have been terrified of going out in public on Black Friday because when I was eighteen, I worked at Target and every day they put me in soft lines, but for some reason on Black Friday they stuck me in the toy department. I can still picture wide-eyed parents running at me with the ad and screaming questions about where different toys were. It was terrifying.

Anyway, when J.M. isn't writing, she reads, crafts, watches football, and adventures with her family in the mountains of rural Pennsylvania.
