Welcome to the Women's Career Mastery Podcast, the show that's dedicated to empowering women to redefine success and break through barriers. I'm your host, Christine, and my co-host, Laura, along with our amazing guests. and experts. We are here to shatter the myths that has been hindering women's career fulfillment for far too long.

So, if you're ready to master your career and take your life to the next level, join us in our journey together. The Women's Career Mastery Podcast starts now.

Welcome back listeners. It's so good to be back here with you. It's just Christine and I, for this episode, we're actually doing a two-part episode for the remainder of 2023. We wanted to leave you with a review and all that we did this year and all the highlights from all the episodes that we did in our program that we launched.

And we'll do another episode to. Launch us into 2024. So, talking about, what are some of the key things to think about and plan for in the coming year and help to get you started with that. So, with that, Christine, let's talk about 2023, all the great things that we did and all of our listeners and guests and everybody involved did.

Yeah, and I'm so grateful of what we've been doing and so proud with what we've been doing, Laura. I remember we met, I think three years ago, and we started something about women in transitions because we both were in the same phase. And then we worked together. And then as we work together, new ideas come out and we decided to do a podcast and from the podcast we decided to do a program and it's amazing how far we've gone, and we have 12 episodes with amazing guests.

Yeah, I'm so grateful for that.

Me too. And who would have thought like, when we started women in transitions and so many other women were on the journey with us, whether they were in our meetup groups or our LinkedIn groups but that it would lead us to women's career mastery and women's career mastery.

I think like we, we finally found that thing that we were looking for connected to our purpose. That was going to. Take us where we needed to go to really make an impact and help women in their careers. And so, once we figured that out, we started it, it just took off, right? Like, again, who would have thought we would have done 12 podcast episodes and have met such amazing women, all of the guests.

We're very grateful for all of you. And then to kick off the Women's Career Mastery Program, like we, we did a pilot, we started the pilot in [00:03:00] September. It's going well. It's going to go through till March next year. And we're, we're, you know, we're going to talk about it later, but we're gearing up for another launch of that program in 2024.

Yep.

Yeah. And maybe we can talk more about why is it from women in transition to women's career mastery? Why is it about helping or supporting women in their career matters for us? Well, the focus shifted for us because we were coaching a lot of women who were going through career transitions, mainly trying to change companies.

They weren't happy where they were, they weren't getting what they needed. And so, it was easier to switch companies than it was to stay and find a way. And so, we decided to create a program to help those women stay in the company and find their way and really empower them to take the lead for their career.

And that seemed to resonate really strongly, not just with our purpose, but with everybody we speak to. I mean, the opportunities, the ideas just keep growing and growing and growing. So, the idea of helping to empower women in their careers, in the companies that they're working for. Is where we are today.

And that was a transition in itself. Yeah, it's very interesting because I found, when things don’t go well, we try. Okay. I think I got to have to move to different companies. And the thing about that is whatever we bring up, whatever mindset we bring, we go to a different companies and most of the time we experience similar pattern, similar thing.

What our program does is not just about, looking around, which is great to look for opportunity within a company because you can always look within the company, but also to look inside our mindset. What can we do from inside to really move forward and grow no matter where we are? And that's, the strength of this program because it's, is both looking outside and inside.

Thanks for sharing that, Christine. And we do a lot of that inner and outer work in the workshops, women's career mastery program, but the podcast further focuses on a lot of the inner work, right. Christine and busting some myths that. Women have been faced with for so long, like the, you know, everything having to be perfect, or you know, you can't have a career based on your passions.

It's all faults. It's. Like, and we bust those myths in all the episodes with all of our guests and we highlight some of the things that might be standing in the way of women in terms of mindset or, just how they might be thinking or feeling. And I think that's like part of the secret sauce, right?

Because we do, we're doing a little bit of both. Yeah,

and I, I like to kind of bring up what we have so far. I mean, probably not mentioned the whole 12, but they mentioned a few of them. And then I'm going to ask you more question, Laura. So, we have in the beginning, we have dismantling myth of perfection try to compromise passion to profession, navigating grief in career transition ambition to achievement, navigating burnout, good girl syndrome navigating job post trauma, kindness as leadership qualities, imposter syndrome, and strength in asking help.

And that's basically, if I look back, things are very applicable in our every day's workday. Do you have any favorite episodes or things that you learned that you still remember from talking to our guests?

Oh, sure. The whole topic on navigating grief and career transitions. Like, I didn't even know that was a topic until we met Brandy, and we started working on that for a podcast. and You get a layoff and a job and now you have a loss. It's so there's grief involved in there or a team member or manager leaves the team or company. There's a loss there too. There's grief, people could be experiencing in terms of their career. And so, it's good to recognize it and work through it and allow it to happen. Don't forget about it. Don't push it aside because it's part of growth. It's part of getting through the trauma of whatever you were dealing with to then get back to your path to success.

That was a big one for me. Also, the imposter syndrome, right? I mean, a lot of these topics not only came from the guests, who wanted to talk about them, but we hear these things in our coaching sessions all the time. And so, imposter syndrome, I got to say is probably 90 percent of the theme I hear in the coaching sessions, really.

So, you may see Sawyer really blew this one out for us and it was just good to have that discussion about it in a real candid way and in a growth way. So, you know, growing through learning about and growing through imposter syndrome.

Yeah. And I know I may be biased because we heard a host, but I think what's good thing about our podcast we are just don't address it from the person who experienced it.

Which is, you know, most of us experience that. But we also address it from, if you are a leader, how can you support the team's members that experience these challenges. That's what I like about our podcasts. We cover it from different angles, different size. What's stand out for me is about asking for help and, also burned out.

I remember having conversation with Karen and its amazing how many things that can come up from asking for help, like asking for help could be part of a quality of leadership. And I think as a leader, you know, we cannot be a good leader if we don't ask for help, or things doesn't get a job done if we don't ask for help. And. And, also about burnout, it's how, it is also like the imposter syndrome is not sometimes it's not just one time, it could be many times, and how the, the burnout experience also related to what we believe inside ourselves about our value, our worth.

And carry, bring it in a very vulnerable and open way that everyone can relate.

to it. I also want to mention, we're getting good feedback on, the episodes thank you to everybody who likes and responds and follows and subscribes to the podcast. It means a lot to [00:10:00] us, but it's not just women, there are men who are listening.

I don't necessarily know their motives, but I think it's because they want to be supportive of women. They want to understand what women are going through, but also that some of the topics do relate to them. And they're sharing their feedback, which is great. So just good to know, right? Like what we're doing is really helping not just women, but everybody.

Yeah. And so, we are looking for next year with more guests. And I think this is, could be also a call or invitation, you could be listeners listening more to our podcast, but also the experience that you want to share in our podcast, please do reach out if you want to be guests and be able to share your blessings or your lesson learns with other listeners of our podcast.

And any other topics that you want to hear about that you necessarily don't want to be a guest to talk about. We are open to topics as well. What's on your mind, what might you hear about from an expert or someone who's been through something really challenging that might help to inspire you.

So, give us a shout out if you have any topics as well.
