Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel. It's Isak here, and today we're diving into something that can genuinely change the course of your life, and that's finding your zone of genius.
This is a topic close to my heart because it's all about discovering what you are uniquely capable of, and, leveraging that to excel in your life. If you've ever felt stuck, or you're unsure of what makes you truly special, stick around, because today's video is going to be a game changer.
Let's talk about some of the common struggles that we all face. How often have you found yourself feeling unfulfilled or just underutilized in your job? Or maybe you know you have potential, but you just can't seem to figure out where it lies.
Trust me, you're not alone. I remember when I was working 9-to-5 and I felt like just a cog in a machine.
It wasn't until I stumbled upon this concept of the zone of genius that things really started to change
Research by Gallup shows that only about 34 percent of employees in the U. S. are actively engaged at work.
That's pretty crazy. that means the majority of people are just going through the motions, not tapping into their true potential.
the consequences of not finding your zone of genius are huge. It can lead to burnout, dissatisfaction, and a general sense of aimlessness.
you deserve more than that. that's what we are here to figure out today.
So, okay, what's the solution?
First, define what your zone of genius is. Your zone of genius is essentially the sweet spot where your natural talents, skills, and passions intersect. It's the space where you not only excel but also find immense joy and fulfillment.
Imagine a place where you lose track of time because you're so engrossed in what you're doing. That's your zone of genius.
Now, how do we identify it?
Okay, here's a few steps.
First, reflection. You need to take some time to reflect on your past experience. What activities made you feel completely in the zone? Make a list of these activities.
Second of all feedback. Sometimes it's pretty hard to see ourselves clearly. So, you need to ask friends, family, and co-workers about moments when they've seen you at your best. look for patterns in terms of their responses.
Next up is strength assessment. So there's several great tools out there like the Clifton strength assessment or the Myers-Briggs personality type indicator that can give you insights into your natural strengths.
Lastly, we have the passion test. So you can identify what you are genuinely passionate about. Because passion is a crucial component. Without it, even the most talented individuals can lose steam.
I love the concept of the Zone of Genius because it's combining, your talents strengths, and passions all into one.
And that's a pretty powerful combination.
If you are like me, you might compare yourself to other people and think that, okay, this person has a lot more knowledge within this area, or he just have a talent for this.
But I mean, if you find your zone of genius, where you combine these things, you look inside. You figure out what your talents are. You figure out what your strengths are. You figure out what your passion is. the passion will drive you towards your goal. It will keep driving you towards that. It will keep giving you fuel towards whatever it is that you want to work towards.
And that's such an important aspect of finding success that people don't normally think about.
If you're just focused on creating wealth finding success in like the very shallow sense, like you want to get a lot of money and you want to have a lot of sex and you want to have status or like these things.
I mean, that will become boring very quickly if you have your passion and it drives you towards your vision, towards your goal, then that is something sustainable.
And you need to look deeply when you're trying to figure out your passion
let's say you're passionate about video editing and you figure out that focusing on video editing will make you find your zone of genius. What if you work on a boring project in terms of video editing?
You love the medium but that's not enough to fuel you, to get you moving forward in this world where there is a lot of competition.
What about your talents? you have something that you're good at, but talent is just, a very small aspect of things.
Putting in a lot of work, having a big passion for something, and working relentlessly towards achieving that.
In that aspect of things, talent becomes very little in that comparison. Talent can give you a boost. A head start, but think of life and your career and think of your life purpose as a marathon.
is that enough to sustain yourself throughout your whole ambition? No.
But if you can bring that talent together with your passion, which is like the motivation to reach the end of the marathon, that's your passion.
And then you have your skills. You need to pick them up along the way. You can't just be running towards that end goal and have no skills. You're going to be out-competed by all of the other runners because they gather the skills.
The place we live in right now, it's a very competitive place. This is an aspect you cannot ignore. the way you create skills we'll go into that in another video, but you need to do it consciously.
You need to develop your skills in a very conscious way because just spending time doing something does not develop skills. There's a lot of books that goes into this
Basically, it's like a three-legged stool, right? Finding your zone of genius.
You need to combine your passion, you need to combine your talents, and your skills that create the benevolent force that you are looking towards.
This is the force that keeps you moving forward, outcompeting the other people. If you have all of these three aspects, in whatever area you're working on, people are going to recognize.
Most people don't combine their talents, skills, and passion into something they are striving towards.
They are just focusing on one leg of this stool, and expect great results. No, you can't. If you want amazing results, you need to do something that other people are not doing. You probably want results that the other 99 percent of people are not getting. You want financial freedom, right?
You want leverage. You want to be a benevolent force in the world. You want to share your greatest gift with the world. And so why aren't everyone doing that? Yeah, because it's difficult. People don't even know the basics behind doing that. the concepts of doing this, this is the basics, right?
Combining your passion, combining your talents, combining your skills to create something. This is what you need to do to have the basics set up for you this is how you create your goals, this is how you create your vision, this is how you create your life, right?
People don't usually want what you want. You are kind of special for just watching this video, looking into this. And I've experienced this my whole life. People don't usually understand me. I'm not adhering to social rules.
I'm not adhering to other people because I have a vision of what I want in life. I look at other people and ask myself, do I want what that person is having, what that person has created in this three-dimensional world? And 99% of the time it's a no.
So I might look up to someone. I might respect that person. I might really want to share experience with that person. I might really want to connect with that person and just spend time with that person. But that doesn't mean I want what that person has created in this life.
If you're taking advice from someone, if you are asking someone about something or you're reading something, you're consuming information with advice from that person,
Is that person living the life that you want to live? Is that person representing the values that you want to represent? Is that person sharing his or her gift with the world?
We need to be conscious about the advice we take from people. We need to be conscious about the information we choose to digest because you can choose to consume a lot of information, but which information do you digest? Which information do you choose to take on and make a part of yourself? Because that's how we use information, right?
That's how I use information. I've written essays about information overload and I've been, using technology to combat this kind of disease we're having. But in terms of the stuff you consume, you need to be conscious.
You need to be understanding that it's like food, right? What do you put into your body? Do you just put in some random shit? do you even know where the information comes from? How do you know that you trust that information? This is basics, right? And we learn this in school, in some schools, in university.
But, this is the basics of becoming an adult. Learning how to digest information, learning how to distinguish between good information and bad information. I mean, nothing is inherently good or bad, but for your goals, for your vision, for, what you're trying to accomplish for what you're trying to achieve in terms of your own development.
Is this information helpful or not helpful? Just make that distinction.
Sometimes I'm getting a little bit frustrated because I see the way the world is going and there's so much distraction And people don't get the chance to look inwards. to find out what their talents are, what their core values are, and even what their strengths are.
In this society, this is something which is not normal. If I talk to people, almost none of them know this stuff. They haven't even considered it.
If you're creating a career, what are you basing that career on? Some people say, yeah, I'm basing it on my skills because I learned programming. That might get you a nice salary. It might get you, a decent life, but it's not going to make you fulfilled.
You only have one life to live on earth. Don't you want to figure this shit out when you're young? Don't you want to learn how to create a conscious career based on your internal values?
This is the basics, talents, skills, and passions. We can go into much more depth when it comes to this but when deciding on your direction in life, have these basics, at least consider them when you choose a direction.
You might solve some problems like your money problems or your sex problems or, your recognition problems. Those kind of shallow problems. You might solve them by just, focusing on one of these, but down the road, you going to experience other problems.
So, do you want your life to mean something? Do you want it to be meaningful? Not just to you, but to the people around you. Do you want to create something with your life? you've been given this gift, right? Coming here to Earth, and it's so precious. people don't appreciate it.
All of this social conditioning and all of this, the whole society that we're living in, it's about distraction. It's distraction from finding your truth. Finding your authentic self and realigning with that. I don't meet people who knows who their authentic self is.
I don't see people who are aware of their authentic self. They don't know who they are. They know themselves in a context.
I meet people in their 30s, in their 40s, in their 50s. They haven't looked inwards. They never asked themselves, what are my strengths? What am I good at? What are my talents? What were I good at when I was younger? And what is my passion? What do I like to do? These are really simple questions and I don't see people asking them
How do you create something extraordinary in life? How do you get the most juice out of your life? How do you make the most out of your time here on earth? Those are pretty, basic questions that everyone should ask themselves.
I need to revert back to Maslow's hierarchy here because when it comes to, pursuing these self-actualization goals, some of you might struggle with building the foundation in your personal development.
And that is not something bad. It's something very good and very important. So when it comes to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, you need to build the foundation of the pyramid first. You need to make sure that you have those basics.
You can transcend upwards, so bring up a pyramid of Maslow's hierarchy check it, and pinpoint, the holes you have in this area. Maybe you don't have your financial needs met. Maybe you don't have your shelter needs met. Whatever it is for you, portray this hierarchy of needs as the basics and then check where are your holes.
Because, yeah, of course, you can, like there are some people who are transcending towards the self-actualization top of the pyramid without having other needs met, but that is very rare.
we're talking about monks who go to the Himalayas and meditate for 20 hours per day in a cave without having any of these other needs met. For most Western people, it's not possible.
So, the less risk-free way of doing this is to build a foundation and then, graduate upwards towards something that's more in line with your authentic self. That's basically what the pyramid is about, right? It's about. Realigning with your authentic self and at the top of the pyramid we have self-actualization That's ultimately where your soul wants you to go.
That's ultimately where your higher self trying to lead you to, but you're too distracted by all this other stuff and you haven't fulfilled the foundation of the pyramid or the lower layers of that. Get working on those first. Keep in mind that, self-actualization is where you ultimately want to go.
Also, you need to fulfill these, lower layers in order to reach that in a more risk-free way. Because of course, you can jump all the way to the self-actualization and it's very rare. Some people do it, but that's not for you and me.
I would never be able to do that. My mind is too scattered, too focused on distractions in this three-dimensional world, like building my business, getting sex, getting love, developing my skills, My mind is occupied with it.
So I'm not able to transcend into something more aspirational.
But one thing is clear. I have the aspiration. I've been having this aspiration for many years now. what I'm actually looking for is self-actualization. I am pursuing spiritual enlightenment. I am pursuing love. And I am pursuing oneness and freedom
You can mention in the comments if this is something that's fucked up, because I've been, thinking about this a lot, like pursuing this business stuff, pursuing these other things in order to get the freedom to transcend.
it's the opposite of a shortcut, right? And so that's something I've been, struggling with. I've been wanting to talk to people who are good with life, navigating this complex maze of distractions that form the three-dimensional world that we live in.
I'm just trying to navigate this and reach my aspirations without hurting other people and ultimately, I have a lot of ego I'm in no way perfect.
There's just so much within my own personality that I have to work on I have to do a lot more shadow work.
I have to do a lot more work with myself in order to transcend all of this ego stuff within me. And there's a lot of it. And I think the first step is just to become aware of it.
So I'm in no way a guru. I am in no way a preacher. I'm just talking about my own path. I'm just trying to figure out what life is and how to transcend into something that's, valuable to me.
To me, I think that's consciousness. And that's a difficult topic to talk about, like consciousness, because most people don't probably know what that is or how to relate to that.
Focusing on your strengths instead of trying to fix your weaknesses, put energy into sharpening your strengths. This doesn't mean ignoring your weaknesses, but the return of investments on improving your strengths is significantly higher.
We talked about this before, but set clear goals. Goals aligned with your zone of genius create a powerful drive. outline clear, actionable steps towards these goals.
Continuous learning. Never stop learning. Seek out courses, books, and experiences that can further enhance your natural talents.
Last up, let's talk about networking and finding mentors. It's important to surround yourself with people who recognize, appreciate your strengths. Mentors can provide invaluable guidance and open doors you never knew existed.
Okay, to recap, finding your zone of genius is about identifying that unique blend of skills, passions, and talents that make you exceptional.
Reflect, seek feedback use assessments, and identify your passions. Focus on these strengths, set clear goals, and continually learn and connect with supported people.
So take that leap of faith and dive deep into discovering your zone of genius. The rewards are tremendous. Not just in terms of career success, but also in personal fulfillment.
