The Lord pays his child support. Jesus will take care. I mean, I know the scripture says it rains on the just as well as the unjust, but here you are a child of God doing what you're supposed to be doing and you called on his name. Amen. And look what happened.
He dispersed his angels. How can you explain that?
Yeah, amen. Ladies and gents, welcome to Voices of Life, the podcast with topics related to the Apostolic faith in the 21st century. Let's talk about what interests you here on Voices of Life.
Hey everybody, welcome to Voices of Life. Today we are honored to have a special guest with us. It is Reverend Minister Pastor Jason Gorey from
Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Good to have you with us. Today we want to talk about 7 weapons against Satan, and This is a topic that concerns all of us, but especially we as men, we are supposed to take leadership in our family, in our life. And so we want to talk about those 7 weapons. And this is something that God put on Brother Gorey's heart, and we are so happy to have him here and to talk about that. But before we go into that topic, we'll ask him just to introduce himself real quick, please.
Well, praise the Lord, everybody. My name is Jason Orlando Gorey. I am from the United States of America, Fort Wayne, Indiana. There I am the associate pastor of the Pentecostals of Fort Wayne with my lovely wife, Susan, and my 2 kids, Jackson and Jasmine.
Great. All right. So we are, like I said, we are happy to have you here. And we had him preach in our church on Sunday and he did a great job. We really enjoyed it.
He was climbing up the ladder and coming down the ladder. And we were talking, he was talking about Nehemiah and we have no time to come down and be disturbed doing the work of God. So it was a great message. If you want to check on that message, just see our YouTube channel from our church, the Apostolic Church of Mannheim. Anyway, let's go on.
7 weapons against Satan.
Well, the first weapon is the blood of the Lamb. And that is so important. That just reminds us that what Jesus did, you know, dying on the cross, a lot of people died, but the special thing was, he came back. He rose. And when he rose, he rose with all power.
Yes. There was something you mentioned while we were talking about it before that I really liked about being a husband and the father. Could you just tell us that again? What you said.
Definitely being the husband and the father, you, I don't want to say you're the patriarch, but you're the head that's biblical, you know, Jesus, then you, and then the church, your family. That's the most important thing. And I think that as men, we've kind of got that backwards right now. And that's my prayer, especially for in the States, in our ministry, letting the men know that you have power with your praise, your worship. You set the tone.
Every day, every night, we're always praying with my family, you know, and in the morning time, we're going to have a great day. Speak positive because the tongue, The scripture says death and life are in the power of the tongue. So we got to bypass death and speak life.
Amen. As a, as a leader, we should lead by example. You know, it's not just that we tell them what to do. We do it. We lead them by example.
And that's what I especially liked when you said you pray with your family every morning before they go to school or go to work. You have a time where you pray together that God protects them against the enemy. Amen.
I actually have another question about that. That just came to my mind. Do you also have regular times, except that morning prayer for your family, where you just get together to have spiritual time together?
Yes. Every Thursday night. Every Thursday night, we call that fun night real quick. You know, we say, oh, prayer. So we have no electronics for about 3 hours.
We'll play some games, like board games. We'll talk, and then we pray for about an hour. We'll, I just said no electronics. We'll turn on some music, gospel music or something. And then we just, we pray.
And the good thing about that is our kids see me and their mother working together. You know, maybe 1 Thursday she may lead it, but before it's over, I'm going to speak and say something. And now we've actually had them where they start leading. You know, my son Jackson is 15. He's already preached 3 sermons.
Ah! You know, in America, so we're excited about that. And he does feel a call to the ministry. And my daughter, she just wants to sing. So we definitely, I'm praying.
Next worship leader, huh?
Yes. That's awesome.
Well, she's touring then the US and then later on Europe and then she calls back on, daddy I found somebody.
Oh my god. Did I say I'm a sixth degree black belt in martial arts? Hand practicing.
That's a warning for all the boys out there you know. Right. I'm sorry I just had to mention that. Yes. I wanted to say something about your devotion or family time or your fun time.
I think it's an awesome thing when you do with your family, because also what you said, you're preaching yesterday was if you pray together, you stay together. And that's such, that's so true because first of all, your children see how you and your wife work and pray together. So they will always have that in their minds. I know my dad, he used to always pray in the morning when I got up, especially on Saturday and Saturdays getting up, I think everybody knows it's kind of hard. Yeah, so when I got up he was the first 1 who was up, got downstairs, made breakfast and while he made breakfast he prayed for the day, for the weekend, whatever, for the next sermon.
So, and that always is in my heart and always in my mind. So that's really, I can only say yes to that. And yeah, that's awesome.
See, what came to my mind when you said that is that we should pray without ceasing. And that is something that your dad then showed you actually. While he was preparing breakfast, he was praying. I think that's a great thing and that's an example that he showed you and you still have it in your mind and it really had an impact on you.
In the morning it's not as good yet, but especially at nighttime when I'm washing the dishes and everything, then I come into the feeling, into the spirit and start praying. Not yet as far as he, but you know, you, you learn and you progress. So yeah, I'm working on it. I'm working on it.
Yeah, definitely. You said something a moment ago that, that just not to get on my soapbox, but a lot of the men, they don't have that father voice. So I think when they come into the ministry, they struggle because they didn't grow up with a father. So now you mean to tell me I got to listen to this God, this Jesus guy? Yes.
You know, when you start hearing that voice, and that's so important that especially for me, I didn't have a father figure, but my mother made sure my uncles and the deacons of the church and my wrestling coach, that they were positive, that they could tell me. So that's awesome for those kids that do have a father.
Amen. Yes.
And that speaks value for you, why you're so strong now.
Amen. Amen. Definitely.
Amen. That's right.
That was also a point you mentioned before, 1 of the weapons was prayer and praise, since we're on that subject anyway. Could you just talk about that a little bit?
That was something awesome because you know I'm being 52 years old yes I don't look it.
I was about to say,
I'm gonna leave that. You were waiting. I'm sorry. I think it's just 35 the most.
I want to stay in Manhattan. Ville and Don. You're welcome. Growing up in the Baptist church, I mean, and me being a black man, I don't think I can defend anybody, we know about talent. Okay, we know about talent.
We know about the you know, but it's more than that, hallelujah.
It's more
than that. We got talent. Oh my goodness, hallelujah. I might stay in Germany now. My family is wonderful, but as I got older in my twenties, late twenties, I was searching.
And being a former Baptist pastor, I knew about praise. I didn't know about worship. It wasn't until I went to an apostolic church and I thought, man, okay, I can do this. I can do
this. So how would you describe the difference between praise and worship?
Worship.
I mean, that's a difficult question because worship is a huge topic. Praise,
I'm thankful for what God has done. I am thankful. Wow, I got a great job. I got a great wife. I got food in the house.
I got a nice, I got a decent car to get me to point A or B, or I can catch the bus or the taxi, but worship, that should be... That's my outward look on life. I worship Jesus.
Amen.
I love Him. I wasn't baptized... I was baptized to titles when I was 10 years old, because they told me in 1980, the world was going to come to an end. I was born in 1971. Thank God, God waited.
Amen to that. Thank God. So when I got baptized in 2003 in the name of Jesus Christ, it was wonderful. It was amazing. And then I started getting all these books on worship, David Bernard and different books.
And my mentor said, Jason, you know, the key, get down on your knees and wait. Listen.
And
I'm still working on it, but I'm learning to listen, you know, but worship is great and you can get it.
But you're right, prayer and praise is a powerful weapon. When you check in the book of Acts, how the people came together and prayed, and even the crown was shaking, and prison doors opened, chains fell off, because the enemy tries to bind us, The enemy tries to put us in a prison. But even though we are low down in a prison, in darkness, and our life feels like a mess, if we start just to pray and praise Him, and it's not just an emotional thing. If we're just able to praise and pray when we feel good, then it's not working. But when we know praise and prayer is a weapon, then we do it even though we really feel bad, and then things will change.
You want to go on?
1 good thing, 1 thought I got, your praise and worship confuses the enemy. The enemy, he wants you to give up. You quickly, you get baptized in the name of Jesus, or you see it, people come in the church, men and women, they get baptized in the name of Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, then next week, bam, they have a bad week. They're almost struggling to come to the house of God. Well, what happened when you went down in the name of Jesus?
Do you remember how it felt? Do you remember that release? We have people in our ministry, which our baptistry, oh, they're going to hear this. That water is cold. There's no heater in it.
Yep. Like, yeah.
I'm like, wow. But when it never fails, every time somebody goes down in the water in the name of Jesus, when they come up, they're warm. You know, they were literally, I mean, I got, this is more than goosebumps right now. They were shaking when they were getting in there. I said, oh Speaking in tongues is great.
Come easy. Mm-hmm. All of a sudden
You're gonna get out of the baptistry until you speak in tongues, right?
No, don't say that. That's the veins if you're listening and behaving. But no, they go down in the name like quickly. A week ago, I was fortunate to baptize a 78 year young man, 78 years old. He's been waiting.
And we had to help him up. We helped him in the tank and he just, when he went down, he said, and I said, hey, it's gonna get warm, I promise you. I promise you. And when he came up and 3, 4 minutes later praying, I said, you ready to go? He said, no.
And I mean, I'm not, it was almost like he was a whirlpool. He was just in the washing machine. He started turning, he was lifting his hands up. And here was a man that was in a wheelchair and we were holding him up, but he was moving because he knew he did the right thing.
Amen.
And I believe, also, I believe praise and worship is for other people, like the non-believers that come in, they need to see, They need to see what happens in the book of Acts.
And I just like how this works out, because that's another point you mentioned about a weapon, the word of your testimony. What you just mentioned, that when you get baptized, And when you have that in your heart, that you know that you have a testimony and that you know that the devil is a liar when he comes back with all the lies about yourself and that just connects with praise and worship again. And I'm not sure, but I think we do talk about Revelations 12, 11 in that.
Yeah, just read it. That's okay.
I think I don't have it in my notes.
Okay, I'll read it then. It's a Revelation 12, 11, and it says, And they overcame him, that's the devil, by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, And they loved not their lives unto the death. Amen. Amen. That's powerful.
Yes.
That's the key right there, brothers, are reading God's Word. You know, the Word says, you know, I don't want to paraphrase it, but his word will never come back void. And the beautiful thing is I always tell the people that we baptize, hey, this is getting ready to be your new birthday. Whatever you did 5, 10 minutes yesterday, 24 hours ago, doesn't matter. You're going to be a new creature.
You'll be changed, but we got to learn to disciple them too. That's another thing, but their word of the testimony, they know that, hey, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday that he is today and forevermore. If God didn't change, you got it.
I always say when I teach or preach that everyone in our church needs to have a personal experience with God. You know, you can have a lot of knowledge in your head about God, but someday there might be somebody else who has a little more knowledge than you and he convinces you with false doctrine. But if You also have knowledge in your hand and you have an experience with God. This experience, this testimony, nobody can steal from you. Nobody.
And that's why the testimony, I think, is a very powerful thing. I think the testimony is something that is not just like an offensive weapon, it is like a defensive weapon. It keeps you, so you are secure, you know what you got, you know that you are safe in Christ.
And I really like that you once preached about it or taught about it, where you said, even if you don't know the word of God that much in the beginning, especially new converts, you can always talk about your testimony, because that's something nobody can take away from you. Nobody knows better than yourself. When you give that testimony, you know your story, you know what happens. And so, this is something that just stuck with me, that it's impossible for others to go against that testimony in any way, because it's your personal experience. Amen.
Yeah, And also impossible for the devil. I mean, that's the point, right? We're talking about the weapons against Satan, because just like the other people can say, no, you haven't experienced that, that wasn't real, or, you know, God doesn't love you anymore. He's not there for you. We can tell you, no, shut up devil, in Jesus name, because we know we carry it in our hearts, the experience that we have had with our God.
So yeah, I really like that point as well.
Amen. And yeah. You think
the word says, how can 2 walk together unless they agree? We know this is what Jesus wants. So that's the matter. You know, that's the, that, that, that's the, that's the absolute truth. You know, Pastor Baines, our senior pastor, he has a saying, you can't argue with a person that hasn't experienced.
You can't argue. I have talked to many people, have you ever seen Jesus? And you know what I say? I look at him in the States and I said, have you ever seen the wind? I mean, no, seriously, have you ever seen the wind?
You can smell a reef blowing, but have you ever just, the wind just came out and said, hey, what's up brother? No. Well, guess what? But do you feel the wind?
Yes. I feel Jesus.
Yes, amen.
I know what happened on 2003. He took anger, he took a lot of stuff that I did not have in my life that I was holding on to, and I left it. And my name, you know, my name, I don't know what my name is gonna be, but when I get to heaven and meet Jesus, he's gonna call me that. So, you know, that's what we as men, especially, we that open up our lives and and get this name applied to our life. We got so much to live for.
We have a purpose.
That is another weapon. We are talking about the name of Jesus. Amen. Oh, yes. In Mark 16, verse 17, it says, "'And these signs shall follow them that believe in my name, no other name, in his name, the name of Jesus.
They shall cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues." Which is a miracle in itself, speaking in tongues. It's awesome. Yes, it is. And it's When the Holy Spirit, when God takes completely control of a human being, and to control your tongue, that means something has to control your mind first. And that is awesome.
So the name of Jesus is so powerful. That's why everything we do, we do in the name of Jesus. That's why we baptize in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins. And that's why we pray in the name of Jesus so people can get healed and miracles happen. And they do.
Yeah. Amen.
Because you said miracles, I do have a testimony of myself as well. I mean, this happens a few times with me and also with my wife that at night we get attacked sometimes. And I have this 1 experience right in my head where just before I fell asleep, I was thinking about future stuff and, you know, situations in my life. And while I was thinking about it, a fear came into my heart and it was kind of cold in the room as well. And my wife, she was asleep already.
And so I laid there and trying to go to sleep was really, really uncertain about everything. And then I saw something black, something dark
in the corner,
in the corner of my eye. And I was like, wanted to look, but also didn't want to look. I was like, I mean, I knew something's going to happen because I experienced it. And my wife, we experienced this before, but I was still like in my, how can you say, in my, was half asleep already. So it was, I was not really working with my mind properly.
So I saw it and then I tried to ignore it and I closed my eyes and finally fell asleep. And then moments later after that, I suddenly felt someone grabbing me and fear came in and everything came in And I tried to call the name of Jesus, but I couldn't speak. And I couldn't speak it out. But then I remind myself, because my wife told me this. She said, if you can't speak it, just think of it.
Think of his name. Just think of his name. So first, I was like, and I couldn't, and suddenly it's like, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, and then just left. And there's so much power in that name that you don't even have to mention it. You just
have to have it
in your mind. And like I said, we have, we used to have this experience more often, but that was that 1 experience that I had in my mind right now that just came over me. I had to give that out.
Yeah. That's awesome. You think about that in the Bible. I mean, every time we read it, when you read this in the New Testament, the demons were telling on God. They all said the same thing, what are you doing here?
It is not yet your time. And if you read that, Jesus didn't answer them. He didn't have to, He's the authority. How's he gonna answer the demon? The scripture says they shake and tremble.
But 1 thing is they do believe, but they're not obedient. We're obedient
to God.
Amen. We're supposed to be obedient. I think about quickly what you said also about that fear, and I was just studying that. I have preached it wrong, so God bless. When Peter was walking on water, I always said, well, when he turned his head, the scripture doesn't say when he turned his head, it says when he became afraid, he started to sink, but he was with Jesus.
And Jesus does understand. And you read the rest of the scripture, what happens? He walked back to the boat with God. He was the only 1 that got out the boat. And I think about that even coming here to Europe, I was afraid.
I was afraid. I wanted to come 10 years ago but I wasn't ready. You know, I had to go through some things, you know, and even now I'm not saying I've arrived, I've arrived in Manhattan.
Finally! Oh yeah. We had the red carpet already, just for our listeners to know, when he entered the building on Sunday we had the red carpet, we got the big limousine, drove him to the entrance. The German
press coming too, Everything, everything.
It was a huge deal. Yes.
But no, it's been great. You know, it's been great to, oh, I'm thinking of that scripture. Well, we're a rural priesthood, a peculiar people, a chosen people. What a privilege.
Yeah. Yeah. Amen. When you think about our past or other people's past, and God is using us and He's just forgetting the past of a person. I was thinking about that when you talked about the guy that is 78, that was 70 years, 78 I think it
was, right?
And he was baptized. How many sins must have been in his life? And God just forgave it and He just washed it away in His name. It's so amazing to see that. And then He's using us.
And we said, you know, just to come back real quick, we said the name of Jesus is powerful, but the name of Jesus in a person, or used by a person that is also filled with the Holy Spirit, oh my goodness, nothing can stand against the Spirit of God because it's God Himself. And that is so amazing just to think about that. And the devil is not able to control the Holy Spirit or a person that is full of the Holy Spirit. I remember testimony my dad said when they were out evangelizing and trying to get people to come to the church. And there was a guy who was really fighting him with words, of course, and he had a devil.
I don't know if he was really possessed, but he had a devil working through him. But then he tried to rebuke my dad and get him away. And my dad just said, no, you can't do anything. You have no power over me, because I'm filled with the Holy Spirit. And all of a sudden that guy looked at him and said, in fear, the guy said, what are you going to do?
So that was the spirit asking, what you gonna do? Because he realized he has no power. He knows that there is no power. And sometimes we ourselves have to understand that when we have Jesus Christ in us, we have the most powerful thing that there ever is and will be. And so that is a strong weapon combined with the name of Jesus.
I mean, you think about Legion, you think about Legion when they didn't want to go back. They told Jesus, send us in those pigs. You know, we have power. They didn't want to,
they knew.
I mean, at the end, we are all gonna see what he really looks like. The scripture says we are gonna say, that was the 1 that used to pick on us because I think real quick, if we can, you know, I think sometimes we give the devil more power than what he deserves. Amen. IIII have, I have.
Yeah. We give him too much attention sometimes even.
That's it. That's it. That's it. That's true.
Yeah. Another testimony that I have about the combination of the name of Jesus and the Holy Ghost in us, I remember we once drove back from church from a Bible study, so midweek service. And we have a longer way, or have had, because back then I lived further away from church. And on our way home, we had an aqua sliding event, And we were spinning around the whole Autobahn A6. So a lot of cars are there going normally.
And it really was a dangerous situation. And right away when it occurred, the Holy Ghost just moved through me and I was just shouting, Jesus, and started speaking in tongues. We got safe out of that situation and even ended up in the right direction so we could even continue driving home ourselves without anyone having to… Of course, the car was broken then, because it was a big accident, but that's really the miracle that I can testify here.
God must have sent out his angels.
Yes, he did. Right.
Well, there we come to a... Oh My goodness, that's another weapon, the angels.
Can I just? This is awesome. I cannot throw this out here. But you, Brother Sebastian, and your wife, You guys have been baptized in the name of Jesus, right? You're filled with the Holy Spirit.
You understand your purpose. You were continually... I'm not saying nothing wrong. I don't want anybody to take this wrong, but we as all us men of God, you're still continuing to work in the kingdom. And what I like to say in the States is, the Lord pays his child support.
Jesus will take care... I know the scripture says it rains on the just as well as the unjust, but here you are, a child of God, doing what you're supposed to be doing, and you called on his name. And look what happened. He dispersed his angels. How can you explain that?
Yeah, amen. Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah. Amen.
Praise the Lord.
He's a long time guy.
Amen. He sure
is. He is never too
late, yes, and never too early. Amen. In Psalm 34, verse 7, it says, The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. Praise God. We are privileged people.
It's not that we just have God in us, in form of His Holy Spirit, but even angels surrounding us and fighting for us. It's not like we're commanding the angels. There's no such thing, of course. God commands them. But it is a privilege to know that God sends out His angels just for us to help.
There's 1 thing that you taught about when we were talking about Revelation. You taught about it that you said, when there will be 1 angel, it's just, so to say, a random angel. He doesn't have a name or anything. He just goes down and binds the devil for a thousand years, I think. So it's not even the big names of angels, for example, like Michael or somebody, but it's just any angel that God just tells them, here, you go, bind the devil, do your work.
Amen. Because they are on a mission in the name of God. And I heard a preacher once, I forgot who it was, but he said, you know, sometimes that's why angels got upset in the Bible when people were asking, what's your name? And they said, that's none of your business, but tell me your name. No, because they were acting in the name of God.
I'm sure that angel had a name, but if that angel would have said his name, he would be in between God and the work of God, because he was on a mission in the name of Jesus. And I think that is so powerful. Also for us, when we do the work of God, it is not about us, about our name. Everything what we do is done in the name of Jesus and that's why everything we do we try to get the attention of the people towards God. Amen.
Last thing.
I know you're gonna laugh. I have an awesome theory. The Bible by Jason. And I come back to Germany. Now, I'm talking about Daniel real quick.
If you read the scripture, Daniel, when they throwed him in the, when they, when the king threw him in the lion's den, the next morning he ran early and shouted, Daniel, are you alive? Daniel? And you picture Daniel, you picture, he probably named them kitty cats. He probably said, you know, here you got Cindy hitting him with the tail, stop it, stop it, get away from me. But the cool thing was, how do we know God was in it?
Because he said, the Lord sent his angels to close their mouth. That means the enemy was coming towards them. And that's a whole nother message because I would have been screaming. I would have seen all them lions coming at me. But here Daniel is, he did what he did normally.
He prayed and God showed up. And that's all I can say. When we do what we're supposed to, The King of Kings will show up.
And those, these lions, they were hungry. Because when they took out Daniel and they put all the accusers of him in there, they couldn't even touch the crown and the lions were just devouring them actually and attacking them. So they were hungry. Amen. It shut their mouths.
Yeah. Shut their mouth. Yeah.
I do not want to know how many times we were saved or kept by angels. Lord, I do not. I, I thought about that a couple of days ago. I was like, man, how many times did the Lord send an angel for Stephen, for Sebastian, for you, Brother Cory, for our pastor, on an Audubon, or while we're eating something that's not good for our bodies? You never know.
You never know because... Never know. Yeah, it's just awesome. It's just awesome. Our God is just great.
Yes, that's great. Amen.
Yes, it is. And I think we could talk, we could go on and talk about it for hours, I think. But we really enjoy that. But you know, To wrap this up, really, we can be thankful for the weapons that God gave us. He did not send us into this world without any weapons.
We are grateful for His blood, we are grateful for the work of the Lamb, we are so grateful for the testimony that we have and the name of Jesus being filled with His Spirit. And I am also personally thankful for having the word of God in written form. That helps us so, so much to have His word. We do need His word. It is the 1 thing that, including the Holy Spirit, I understand, but this is a thing, the Word of God that guides us throughout every day, the whole week.
And it's not just guiding us, and it's also a weapon against Satan to stop him. Because when God was tested, Jesus Christ, when He was tested in the desert, He said, It is written. And if we know the word of God, we can also say to the devil, It is written. And he can't say anything against it, because the word of God is stronger in every weapon that he has. And the Bible says every weapon formed against us cannot prosper.
Right. What a privilege to be a child of God. Amen.
Want to add something? Yeah, and that's why it's so important that we read it and that we read it daily, that we know that it is in us, because only then we can say it is written. Amen. And have that certainty.
Well, the word of God is likened to a sword, and if you have a sword and don't know how to use a sword, then it's of no use for you. You need to know how to use the sword. And Brother Gori, I guess, can teach you how to use swords, right?
