Maurice O Carroll is a multi-award-winning writer/director/editor and he has a post-graduate diploma from Screen Ireland/TU Dublin’s prestigious Advanced Producers programme. His one-hour documentary ‘MOUNTRATH UNLOCKED’, entirely shot and post-produced by Maurice in his 2km lockdown zone during the Covid-19 pandemic, premiered at the 33rd Galway Film Fleadh. Described by Donald Clarke as “A dead ringer for Tarantino....in a good way”, his highly acclaimed independent debut feature film, ‘DEAD ALONG THE WAY’ premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2016, sparked sold out screenings across the festival circuit, and was rewarded with an Irish theatrical release.

His 4-part web series ‘SUCKING DIESEL’ (Best International Web Series, New York Fest) was released free on streaming platforms in 2018 and still enjoys a cult following today. Maurice also collaborates as an editor on films with both established and new talent, which are all multi-award winning projects on the Irish festival circuit. In 2019 he edited the Virgin Media documentary ‘THE PRIZEFIGHTER’ by acclaimed director, Terry McMahon. The documentary planted a seed in his mind which flourished into his latest feature film ‘SWING BOUT’ during the height of the pandemic in 2020. Maurice also directed and post-produced the Screen Ireland funded short film ‘CONVERSATIONS WITH MY DEAD FATHER’ which earned him a Discovery nomination at the Dublin International Film Festival, won ‘Best Director’ at the Beara Film Festival and ‘Best in Cork’ at Fastnet Film Festival 2022.
