Virginia Gilbert is a BAFTA-nominated, award-winning writer and director in film, television, radio and fiction. Her screenwriting work has been placed on the BritList and she was named as a 'Star of Tomorrow' by Screen International. Her works often delve into the complexities of human relationships and the subtle nuances of life's challenges. With several award-winning short films and a notable presence in international film festivals, Virginia continues to make significant impacts in the cinematic world. Her debut feature film as writer-director A Long Way From Home was nominated for the Michael Powell award for Best British Feature and was released theatrically by Soda Pictures. Virginia is currently developing a 3-part original TV series with Lionsgate called Sweetheart and a six-part original TV drama series with ITV, The Common Enemy. Other television credits include the award-winning documentary series Whores and the IFTA-nominated An Irish State of Mind for Irish channel TG4 and comedy-documentary Money, Money, Money for RTE and Lord Haw-Haw for RTE 1. Her short fiction has been published internationally and her debut collection was nominated for the Salt Prize. Radio credits include a season of her short fiction under the banner Abroad and three original dramas for BBC Radio 4.
