It's been an absolute pleasure to end the Black History Month episodes with Marcus Haynes, a distinguished guest whose journey began in Brooklyn before he was exposed to the rich and diverse cultures of Lusaka, Zambia, Kisumu, Kenya, and Johannesburg, South Africa. His parents are from the Caribbean, making his life story even more unique.
What makes Marcus an even more exceptional person is that he had the incredible opportunity to meet Nelson Mandela as a teenager. How many of us can say the same thing? Although Marcus may not have fully appreciated the moment then, it is something he remembers vividly today.
Today, Marcus is the President and Founder of RH1 Consulting LLC, a Human Resources consulting firm. Although he hadn't initially thought of entering the field, he was eventually encouraged to do so by his dad while in college studying biology to become a veterinarian.
It's been a real treat to celebrate Marcus' amazing story with you all. I have to bring Marcus back to talk parenting, love, and more volleyball (yes, he was a professional volleyball player)!
