00 Hi there, and welcome to Gamification for Course Attention, How to keep learners coming Back. So I'm Marina Sciarrino, and I'm delighted to be here to help you understand how gamification can, you know, improve your course attention. So I've built over one hundred twenty gamified courses on my recommended platform for clients all over the world, mainly coaches, course creators and service providers. And I know first hand that one of the challenges is course attention. So we you know, as a course creator, a coach, a service providers providing a course experience or membership experience, we do our best to create valuable content that will help the students get results.
50 But it's not that easy to when be sure that the students actually walk through the content so that we can get the benefit from it. And if they don't, then we don't get results and then you lose, you know, testimonials and sellers. So today in this presentation, I will give you some insights about what gamification is and then we'll share about three key gamification strategies that can help you, you know, improve your course retention.
26 So let's get started. Let's be real for a moment and let's talk about engagement and detention. So creating and selling a course is just the beginning because the real challenge lies in keeping learners engaged long enough to get the results you want from them. And the tension is crucial for the long term success of any business tied to a course or a membership. So without it, your course may become a one time experience. Students login a couple of time and then they disappear. And that's not ideal, especially when your goal is to build a loyal and engaged community.
09 So you've likely seen this before. Students starts long, but they lose momentum along the way. Completion rates drop and so do a testimonials with the feathers and the results what showcase your courses value. So how can you ensure that learners stay motivated and engaged? That's where gamification comes in. And it's not just a buzzword it's a powerful strategy to drive attention and make learning fun and effective. And if your course already has solid attention leads, gamification can announce what's working already and take it to the next level. So it's not only for courses that struggle with attention. Even if your course has solid engagement, you can make your course moving from grade to blockbuster.
04 So it's about not only fixing the problem, but also announcing what's already working and create an experience that students cannot stop talking about. So what is gamification? Let's take a moment to talk about what today is because many people get this long. So gamification is art and science of incorporating game like elements such as points, the walls, progress bar into experiences that aren't game. So it's about using the psychological triggers, using using game in a different field of something which is not a game. So these elements tap into a natural desire for achievement, recognition and progress, and they activate the dopamine in our brain.
56 I will say that amification isn't much more than just tools and feature because for me, it's a way to help students grow, transform and reach their potential. So I believe so strongly the power of learning, skill development, personal transformation and amification takes these processes into a whole new level, making them engaging and motivating. So here's the thing, we see platforms like social media using amification to keep people you stuck, and then there's loops of scrolling and consuming content. But what if we use the same principles for good, to help people build skills, global business, transform their life? That's the kind of gamification I believe in. And then when they are in the course programmification, we also need to help them see in the journey where they are and always remember them where they are going.
43 So it's not about turning your course into a game, because you can use gamification in really pretty serious topics, but it's about inspiring action and colleging, persistence and making learning and showable the impact of gamification. So when applied forcefully, gamification transform the way learners interact with your course. Without it, courses can feel like passive consumption, a series of videos to watch with little, with no introduction. So how can you go to get the infants and to just see clients who share their experience? Well, with camification, we move from passive consumption to active participation.
32 So imagine your learners excited to complete the next module because they know we will hit the milestone under the condition. Picture them celebrating their achievement, earning a badge, unlocking the world. Gamification is not about distracting your students or keeping them busy it's about guiding them through a journey of growth. So whether it's mastering a new skill, building confidence or forming a business, transforming my mindset, whatever the topic of your course, ramification can help learners stay engaged and on track. And so through this, you are increasing with attention, boosting the completion rates and moving people into active participation. You will be creating, You're having fans. And that's why I believe so strongly in the power of gamification.
23 So when used for the good, it has the power to change lives, helping people in their lives with potential. And that's why I want to share three key principles with you, three key principles of gamification. So let me be clear, that's not everything. That's not just following these three key principles. It's not enough for a full gamified experience, but it's a great place to start. So, and I want you to walk away from this presentation with some practical ideas on how you can start putting gamification inside your course. One, clarity of progress. Learners need to see where they are and where they are going. So when you are creating a course or when you're starting a course, you know that you want people to know what their point A, the situation we don't like is and what the point B, which is where you can take them with your course and program.
32 And then when they are in the course programmification, we also need to help them see in the journey where they are and always remember them where they are going.
48 Meaningful the words. So the words matter and they must align with the learner's goals. So we're moving from other words to the words and then to meaningful the words and motivational figures so time energies at the right time can make all the difference, and they can ignite momentum when motivation dips. So now let's explore each principle with examples of how we can transform a course experience tragedy of progress. So let's imagine a course without ramification.
29 Students move through your course with no clear sense of progress they don't know how much you have completed, how much is left and what's coming next. The only thing they may know is that there is a ton of things that they still need to achieve, which is a pretty overwhelming. So this uncertainty can lead to frustration. So now with gemification. Imagine your course includes the progress bar but updates as students complete each module. A learner sees the 50 % through the problem and feels Anchorage to push forward 100 %.
06 Adding checkpoints like Congratulations, you've completed module 3, only two module left gives learners a sense of accomplishment and boost motivation. And this can be done manually with low tech tools like spreadsheets or automatically with platforms that track progress and award points meaningful rewards. So the principle is that the rewards need to feel valuable and the element to the client's goal. So let's imagine a course without ramification. A learners completes a difficult module and gets no acknowledgement at all.
46 No email no SMS, no well done nothing. They're just alone in the course and this lack of feedback can make the course feels monotonous and discolaging. Or maybe we get a generic message that doesn't mean anything to them. Alternatively, the learner completes a difficult module, like the first week of workouts in the fitness course and gets a badge. And this badge is not only to show off, but it also locks actors to a bonus lesson on advanced techniques.
25 So this award feels meaningful because it's time to the learners goal, which is getting fitter and this was this provides an incentive to keep going. I hope that makes sense. Multivational figures. So let's imagine a course without gamification. A student hasn't logged in for one week or a couple of week. There is no follow up, no no clutchman. They feel unnoticed and eventually forget about the course. Now imagine that instead very see the timely email. We notice you haven't checked out for Model 2 yet. Let things are waiting for you. It's a quick 2 minute video to get you started again. And with us the outcome of the engaging learners and help them overcome inertia and returning to the course.
23 And this merge can be sent manually in small groups what you can, you know, track one by one the students activity or you know, if someone is showing for the live coaching call or not or in an automated way in a larger self based course using platforms that track learner activities. So let's recap the three key principles that I've show shown in this presentation because I would really love for you.
52 But after this presentation, you will remember them and you will try to embed them. So one is clarity of progress. Visualize the progress will take us a milestone to boost motivation. 2 is meaningful the words offer the words that align with Lena's goals and provide value. And three is motivational triggers so use timely nudges to keep learners engaged and on track. These strategies can be implemented manually or automatically, making them adaptable for any program.
24 So this is something I have my clients achieve using powerful gamification software to create results driven experiences. Whether your course is struggling with retention or your course is already doing well, gamification is a powerful way to create a learning experience which is even better. So it's not just about solving the issue of close completion, but it's about turning be turning on success mode, building on your actual success and making a great course into the truly remarkable 1.
