In case you don't know me, my name is Heather Ritchie and I'm a certified content marketing strategist, SEO content writer, and AI specialist over at Writer's Life for You. And I just love making content creation easier for content creators and solopreneurs who have a lot on their plate. So I'm really excited because I use custom GPTS a whole lot in my own business in fact, I almost never used regular chat GBT anymore because custom GPTS are built to focus on one specific thing and they do it magically well so I cannot wait to jump into this training i'll see you inside. 

00:55 All right, I'm so excited to dive into this training why custom GPTS are the affordable content assistance you never knew you needed. I'm cannot wait to drop some fun on this for you. So if you've ever wished for a reliable assistant who gets your voice, never calls in sick, and doesn't cost a fortune, then hey, you're in the right place because I'm going to share an easy way to start using custom GPTS and this is even if you feel like you're behind in tech or and AI, because I know a lot of people are a little bit late jumping on the AI bandwagon, but it's important that you do now because it's going to set you apart from other content creators not using it and you're going to be able to get a lot more done and you're going to be light miles ahead of them than they're going to be.

I'm going to talk about why custom GPTS work better than generic AI tools like don't get me wrong, I love generic clawed and chat GBT but these custom GBTS are even better now for the purpose of this training I'm going to be using chat GBT to talk about everything. Also how they save you time and money without you having to hire additional help. This is how people are getting a lot more done and even bigger brands that had more teams have not had to expand further to scale their business.

02:37 So the problem, let's be honest here, you're doing everything. You wear all the hats in your business, you doing the content, managing the clients, you're doing the admin, you're dealing with the strategy of all times, content strategy, product strategy, all of that. And it still feels like you're barely keeping up it's kind of like you're on that never stopping hamster wheel or treadmill content plans. 

03:01 You're really winging it. Blog post draft they're half finished maybe they're still in your head and you just haven't had time to write them and optimize them. Social media is completely inconsistent, possibly burnout that gets closer to you day by day. And then hiring help. It can be really expensive or the thought of managing it may be exhausting and that's the problem we often need help way longer than we decide to go for it. A lot of times that's because we just don't have the budgets to do it. 

03:33 So here's what I want you to understand that you're not lazy or disorganized. Your brain isn't meant to juggle a million tabs and tasks and that's that's 100 % the truth. Even if you are a bit disorganized, trying to manage all the things in your business is making it harder. So what do you actually need oK, how about we're talking support that works with you the way you think it should? Something that's low maintenance but high impact pools that get your voice and your vision i mean come on, when chat EBT first came out, it was giving mediocre results and I get it while people are afraid to go back to it. 

04:12 And then a way to lighten your load without handing off your soul. So here's the thing that you don't just need any tool and we're going to talk about content here you need a content assistant that works when you do, understands and learns your style so it can write like you, doesn't cost a fortune or let's be honest, doesn't quit on you or ghost you mid product project. I have heard horror stories from some of my friends that hired like a business manager because they needed it. 

04:42 And then that person just ghosted them for months and didn't do anything, didn't write back nothing i'm like, I don't even know why people would do that, but it just kills me. So this is where custom GPTS come in, 

04:55 Custom GPTS we're going to dive into those so what is a custom GPT, you may be asking? Well, a custom GPT, otherwise known as a generative pre trained transformer, is a version of GPT that has been specifically built or tailored to serve a very particular niche or purpose. This is why they excel this is why they provide a better output because they're trained to do one thing well. When you start throwing a whole bunch of things into one chat GPT. 

05:28 Script or one chat GPT chat I should say, then it gets to be a little bit messy and chat GPT is not going to return the best results. Plus you have to keep reminding it like your tone, voice and style what it needs to do all that with custom GPTS. Yes, if you're buying one like the ones I sell, you will need to tell it like what you are, but you don't completely have to train it it is trained to do what you need to do. 

05:55 So unlike general AI chat bots, custom GPTS are fine-tuned with a knowledge base, prompts, or even workflows to help users solve very specific problems or complete tasks or streamline processes in a better way or more focused way. 

06:14 So let's go custom GPT versus generic AI so generic is here on the left and custom is on the right so it needs constant prompting that is a yes with generic, but not with a custom GPT. Understand your brand voice well, when you're building your own, a generic AI does not. You have to keep reminding it, but the custom GPT can. It knows your workflows with generic AI, it doesn't but with a custom GPT, it does. 

06:43 It requires a lot of editing now that's where generic AI sounds more robotic or not as playful, fun, whatever your tone is as you. But the custom GPT does not require a lot of editing and then the generic AI does not feel like a real assistant, but the custom GPT does. It is streamlining things in the back end of your business and you are getting a lot more done. I'm telling you, I save probably a thousand dollars a month and more time than I can even tell you, probably hours each week just by using chat GBT and custom GPTS in my business. So what can a custom GPT do there are so many things, but let's just drop some here. 

07:30 It can draft blog posts in your voice, build out systems and SOP's outline digital courses, Write emails with the right tone plan content based on your goals. It can analyze large amounts of data it does this very well. Provide content and product ideas, write subject lines and preview text, write title and meta descriptions and generate your content strategy. All without you having to explain the why behind it every single time. So why they're more affordable than hiring help? So I just want to look at comparing like traditional areas of support versus a custom GBT. 

08:12 So with a virtual assistant VA you are likely going to spend between. It could be lower at 300 depending on where you're hiring help at so we'll say 300 to fifteen hundred dollars plus a month. A copywriter is super expensive it can be 300 to 2000 + a month, especially if you keep them on retainer. But even per project is probably going to cost more than 300$ a month. And then a custom GBT, all you need is chat GPT. The pro version, well, I should say it's probably it's not the really, really big version that's like 200$ a month or whatever it's it's the plus or the pro that's 20$ a month. 

08:50 So you're not wrong for wanting support like we all need it. And I can't tell you how many times I've had on my To Do List, you know, the support that I need, that I need to hire somebody, but we just can't afford to do it a lot, especially when it comes to outsourcing for the first time. So here is the hidden cost of outsourcing. And these are things that people don't tell you when you're first starting to outsource. So training people takes you time you don't have and you want to outsource the tasks that you know how to do so you can teach your people to do it, but you may not like doing it, but you still need to know how to do it. 

09:32 Micromanaging yet another job because you really are, especially in the beginning, going behind them and trying to figure out if they're doing this right, what they're doing teaching them the right way, creating videos for them to see how and then trusting others with your vision or your voice for your business is really hard. And then what if they ghost you like I just talked about earlier, or they get it all wrong and you completely have to redo something which spends even more of your time. So these are all reasons why solopreneurs tend to keep doing things themselves because they know that managing A-Team and the cost behind it are a lot. 

10:11 And if you haven't, the first time you try to hire, it's bad. I mean, it's, it doesn't go right and it's not good for you or the person you hire, setting them up to fail. So the good thing is, is things like AI, like AI team members are low cost and efficient and they can can actually set you up for success. Like to actually outsource like I'll be talking about in a little bit with Sops and workflows and things like that. They can help you set those up so that you literally have step by step how to do something and can hand it over to the person that you outsource to. 

10:46 So we're going to go for the middle ground here. You know, there's no help at all, or there's really good help or really bad help depending on how you look at it. So we're not going to DIY, we're not going to DFY done for you we're going to be done with you by AI. So custom GPTS are basically that bridge between doing everything yourself and then outsourcing to another person. They can remember your style and systems. They work anytime you need them if you're up at 3:00 in the morning, they're going to be there for you. 

11:17 They cost less than your coffee habit each month if you get a couple of your favorite coffees from Starbucks or something like that. So it's really worth it to invest that in your business is 20$ So how to start using GPTS in your workflows? So first, I would just say start with one task just to get you if you haven't been using custom GPTS or even chat GPT if you decide to buy one from somebody like me and custom GPT or if you decide to train your own, what is draining you the most right now? Is it writing blog outlines and blog post? Is it managing your email inbox which believe me, there are ways to automate this using AI and I have taken some pretty spectacular courses and they don't really as much involved like chat GPT per southeast. 

12:08 What they can, you can actually do that with Air Table and some different things and the automations in the background of it, but they can do customer support for you you can create a little chat bot based on chat GPT or something else that will answer questions for you in your business. They can help with SAPS. They can help with content planning, writing emails, all of that. 

12:31 And once someone trains a custom GPT, once it's done and the more you use it, the better results you get. My chat GPT is sounding so much like me. Any aspect now because there are ways you can customize just a regular chat GPT. But I'm telling you, because I upload documents in the back end of my personal GPT is not the ones that I sell, but I do that to upload documents and the ones I sell but these are just for me. I'll put my brand book in the back end and it is just absolutely amazing like I cue the Angel singing i cannot even tell you how amazing it is now that chat GBT sounds like me. 

13:12 So here are some ways custom GBTS can help specific ways so it can help you repurpose your long form content into social media posts or emails. It can write welcome sequences or affiliate swipe copy for you, batch content ideas for your next launch or series, plan a year's worth of content ideas in just a couple of hours or even in an hour. It can help you write headlines and hooks that slow the scroll or even act as a biz strategist or coach. If you can search online, then you can do this and I'm saying all of those things because these are all custom GPTS that I have built. 

13:48 I have built over 30 custom GPTS, some that I sell and some that are just for me. And my favorite is my business strategist. I will go to it for summit presentations where I will be like, hey, you know what I'm good at you know what I do i want to speak at this summit. I want to you to come up with some really good presentation ideas that are just on, that are specific to me only, not something boring or generic. And then I have some great presentation ideas that usually get chosen because they are specific to me. 

14:26 I use it for a lot of other things too, like for pricing, for determining upsells and order bumps to add to specific products. There are so many things that I use these for that it's amazing so I'm going to talk about how to build a custom GBT just real quick, and I'll probably pop in and show you what you would do first is open chat GBT and click Explore GBTS and then log into GBT, which that's what you do First you log into GBT, you'll need chat GBT Plus and on the left menu, click Explore GBTS. And then the next step is to create click create in the right hand corner so then once you get logged in, you're going to create a GBT in the right top corner and hit get started. 

15:07 And hey, no coding or tech skills required. And then you're going to describe what you want to do in plain language. Tell it what kind of assistant you're building so for instance, it would be this custom GBT will write copy and assets for filters, for affiliates, for writers life for you, and then you're going to upload instructions or examples so to train it better, you can paste in writing samples, tone guidelines, checklist SOP's and you can even create training documents to add to your GPT for better results. 

15:40 I have learned to build these and I use Thawed and Perplexity to help me create training documents for my custom GPTS. And then you name it, save it, name it, save it and use it so give your GPT a clear name, save it, boom, it's all ready for you to help exactly what you what you've taught it to do. So just make sure when you're saving it, you can choose between only you, which means only you have access to it. Anyone with the link or add to the GPT store and if I were you, I would just do only you or anyone with a link because putting it in the GPT store means everybody can get it for free. 

16:23 One thing to note though, if you do end up selling these in the future, once you give out a leak, you can't revoke it so it will just be done and those people will have access to it until the end of time. So let me pop out and let me actually show you this and chat GPT. So if I go to SO here for me, because I have a billion custom GBTS, this is where your custom GBTS live but I have so many that they all don't show up on this page. 

16:53 So you want to hit explore GBTS and then you would click create, and then you would simply follow the instructions, name your GBT, add a short description about what it does, and then what does it do how does it behave what should it avoid doing? And then you would hit create and it would have you save it to one of the things that you and I that I just mentioned for you either to chat to. This is where it would be if it was to all the GPTS, this is where it would go and you don't want that. 

17:25 You either want it to just be for you, for you to access, or anybody with a link can access it. 

17:38 Ok, so that's basically it, but I do have something for you. 18:16 I'm probably going to actually add an air table version to that as well because that's something else I use. So I really hope that you just are really excited to try custom GPTS. I know the world is abuzz with them people are selling them but I mean, you can even program to be program them to be like a coach. So if you have a coaching program or a course or something and you want students to be able to ask it questions or do things like it does, then you can train it to be there and they can ask questions no matter when they have it if you're not around or they don't have to wait till office hours and they can ask you questions then and there. 

18:58 So it's really, really valuable. Also, I'm starting to add them as additional tools to my courses. So for instance, I have a a training and workbook combo called slipworthy content descriptions, which is how to write good meta descriptions. Well, I've now added my custom GPT metamagic S metamagic AISEOAI that actually will write SEO optimized meta descriptions and titles for you so that's just an example of how you can really start selling these and now it's more important than ever like no longer do just straight out self study courses really work as well people are now getting smarter with their buying decisions and they expect a lot more. 

19:50 So anytime that you can add a little bit of you into those self study courses or give them extra tools that will make your, your courses and your dental product, digital products highly, highly sought after so I hope you enjoyed this and I can't wait to see what you decide to do with custom GPTS.
