[00:00:00]: Hello. Hello and welcome. Welcome to the mindset Reset. In this short presentation, I'm going to show you some simple tools of how you can use your breath and your subconscious to rewire your stress and ignite your success. Before we continue, there are some guidelines that you will need to download and read through. Hopefully you would have received them in an email or they should be above or below the video. I'll give you a moment if you can make sure that you download those and read them before the presentation. So I'll just give you a moment to do that and then we'll continue.
[00:00:45]: So I'm Kerry Magwick. I'm a certified holistic trauma specialist, a hypnotherapist and a functional breathing instructor. And today I wanted to show you how you, in just a few minutes can completely reset your stress and rewire your mindset so you can stop surviving and start thriving not only in your business, but in your life. If you ever feel like your life or your business is going in circles, like you know what to do, but you still find yourself procrastinating, self sabotaging, or you find that you freeze under pressure. And the reason this happens is not because you're broken. It's because your nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do and that is to keep you, you safe. The challenge we have for many of us is it's not about lions and tigers anymore. It's the fear of judgment, of being visible, the fear of failure.
[00:02:02]: And I'm sure you can add in your own to that list. And what that means is that your body goes into stress mode even when you're just trying to put out that post on Instagram or when you're trying to launch something new. And when your body goes into that stress and survival mode, that's when we start to procrastinate, to self sabotage and to freeze under the pressure. So most entrepreneurs live in what I call the stress spiral. And this is a spiral of stress overwhelm, freeze. Then we end up with guilt and shame. We feel stuck. And the cycle repeats.
[00:02:50]: We get back into stress overwhelm. We freeze, we're stuck. Then we feel guilty and we feel shame because we've got back in that same loop. So today I'm going to show you how you can stop the stress spiral and jump into the safety spiral. And when you get into that safety spiral, you learn to take control of your breath. You can reset and get to that place of calm, of clarity, of confidence and taking aligned action. Once you know how to interrupt the spiral, that is when you take your power back. So tool number one is my three minute reset ritual.
[00:03:38]: This is your go to pattern interrupt. So when you're in that stress spiral, this is your pattern interrupt to get in to the safety spiral. And I'll explain to you why this becomes how this works, why we need to use it and the difference that it is going to make. But for now, I'm going to show you and guide you through this reset ritual. So try this with me. Now, our step number one is our breath. So we're going to control our breath and you're going to breathe in and out through your nose. So try this with me. Kerry Magwick [00:04:23]: Now. Breathe in through your nose for four, hold for four and exhale slowly through your nose for six. And we're going to do that again. Breathe in through your nose for four, hold for four and exhale slowly through your nose for six. And repeat this again. Inhale through your nose for four, hold for four, and exhale slowly for six. And if you find you're struggling to do the four, four, six, you can do this. Two, two, four.
[00:05:15]: It will work either way because as soon as we start to control our breath, we, we start to have control over our stress and anxiety, over our physiology, the breath. Once we slow down and control the breath, this is your signal to your mind and your body that you are safe. So once we've done a short breathing exercise, we're then going to reframe. And what we're going to reframe is the words that we say to ourselves. Notice when you're stressed and you're anxious, the words that you say to yourself, I can't do this, I'm no good at this. And those are not helpful. They are just words. And unfortunately, our mind tells us, our mind believes everything we tell it.
[00:06:03]: So let's start to tell it some more helpful things that it can do. So what you're going to say is, even though I feel, put in your word, stressed, anxious, guilty, afraid, whatever your word is, put that in there. Even though I feel I give myself permission to breathe, reset and thrive, feel that shift just from doing the breath work and from that reframe, and then we're going to take it up a level and you're going to move, you're just going to do one small thing. You can get up from your chair, you can wiggle in your chair and put your arms in the air if you'd like to, you can get up and go get a drink of water. Because this simple act, toes us down that stress loop because when we take control of our breath, we reframe the things that we say to ourselves and we move. Your body can't not change. So as soon as we do those three things, we step out of that stress cycle and into the calm and clarity cycle. My second tool that I absolutely love is when we rewire our subconscious mind.
[00:07:40]: So a lot of the things we do, we do out of habit. We do them automatically. We get into this place of procrastination, of stuck suckiness, as I call it, because of the things that we repeatedly tell ourselves say to ourselves we do. We get into that stress spiral. We may not be aware of it, but it's our go to it. Kind of feels comfortable because we're always in it. So most women I work with are struggling not because they don't have a strategy, but because they're running on what I call outdated programs. So if you have a, any technology, a mobile phone, a cell phone, a tablet, all of these things that we have, the apps need to be upgraded.
[00:08:28]: The phone itself has software that needs to be upgraded. You have a computer, it has software that has to be upgraded. And our mind and our thoughts, our subconscious is exactly the same. We have programming that becomes outdated and we need to update it and to reprogram it. And some of these outdated things can be the fear of being seen, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, people pleasing. All of these things that may be programmed into us, that don't serve us as we're moving forward, as we're growing our businesses, as we're stepping out, as we're shining our light. So using specific clinical hypnotherapy techniques, I guide my clients to update these programs so that they can move from survival into thriving and succeed success. But today, I'm going to share a really quick little reframe that you can try.
[00:09:26]: And we spoke about in Tool one was your breath, your reframe and your move. And you can use this as your reframe. And that is I am safe. I am safe to succeed. I am ready to be seen. I show up fully because my work matters. And what you want to do is repeat this daily. In fact, you're going to do the whole reset is going to become your anchor habit.
[00:10:06]: It's going to become your daily ritual. And the reason why we do this is because you've heard it, I'm sure a million times before. What we do consistently is what makes the biggest change. So it doesn't have to be the big things. It's about the small things, but it's about those things that we do consistently that create change. We rise through repetition. So you're going to choose a time in the day, whether that's when you get up in the morning, before your breakfast, before your lunch, before your dinner, after the school run, before a zoom call, before seeing a client. You're going to set up a specific time in your day when you are going to do this ritual.
[00:10:59]: And the reason why you're going to start doing it and making a habit is because we're wanting to make calm your baseline, not just a rescue plan. When you start to feel those feelings of anxiety and stress, this is going to be your go to. Oh, that feels uncomfortable. Let me breathe. Reframe, move into that calm cycle and then get back to what you were doing before. If we don't make this a habit, often we forget to use them. How many tools and strategies do you have that you forget to use? Sometimes you remember, but it's a little bit too late. So that's why we need to make this a daily habit.
[00:11:51]: If you think about in the morning, you get out of bed, you don't have to think about whether you put your right foot down or your left foot down. You just get out of bed, you get out of bed, you wash your face, you brush your teeth deep, These are things that you don't have to think about. So this is what we want to make this your daily ritual. Because life happens, stressful things happen. And what we need to do is make sure when those come along that we have a way of stepping out of that stress cycle into the calm cycle. So to help you integrate this even further, I've created the Calm CEO kit. And included in that is a three minute ritual walkthrough. There's a set of cue cards that you can cut out, print, cut out, stick them wherever you'd like to.
[00:12:45]: Whether that's on your computer, on your desk, on your mirror. Use those and there will be space in there to reflect, to rewire, and to look at what you'll go to. Mindset blocks are so for everybody. They're different. We use our own words. You might, we might have the same kind of blocks, but we use different words and we want to move those blocks and change them into stepping stones. So you'll be able to access that below this video and either in an email link or below this video. So remember, these aren't just feel good tools, they are critical.
[00:13:29]: Because if your nervous system is in chaos, then no strategy that you have will stick. Willpower takes up about 5%. It's a very, very small portion. And as I always say, you can't white knuckle your way through things. And why would you want to? It's a lot easier when you have a go to strategy that will take you to that place of your body feeling safe. Because when your body feels safe, your ideas flow, your confidence rises, and your business and your life expands. So that is your next step. [00:14:24]: Because the best place for us to lead is from a place of calm, clarity and confidence. And this starts with us being able to control our breath, to control the way we think, and then to move, which just helps us shift that and bring it all together. Your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges. We all know that when you do things from a place of fear or stress or anxiety, it's out of reaction. We want to come from a place of acting, and that comes from having a calm mind. And calm mind comes from feeling safe within your body. And your breath will help you get there.
