00:01
Hi, welcome to course creation, ABC's elementary framework Hi, I'm Rachel. I'm the creator of Rural Meetings. Rural Meetings is created for the creative Outdoorsy small business owner to recharge and reconnect.

00:16
I enjoy road tripping, crafting and can often be found with a cup of tea nerding out to business strategies I live in a small rural town in Alberta, Canada with my husband and playful pups Course creation used to overwhelm me. However, after learning one secret, I have now created nine mini courses and counting. And I'm excited to share the secret with you.

00:41
But first, my disclaimer. I assume no responsibility for errors, omissions or contrary interpretation of the content This presentation is provided as is Without warranty of any kind Whether expressed or implied. Any perceived slights of specific persons, peoples or organizations are unintentional This presentation has been created based on my own experience.

01:07
With courses In this presentation you will learn the ABCs, 1, 30s, 5 W's and H of Course Creation with the overall goal of simplifying the process for you And you will unlock the secret to how I overcame the overwhelm of course Creation So let's begin. The first W is whoWho is this course created for?

01:35
Which is also the A for Audience You are creating your course for your audience With considerations to their problems, current knowledge and learning style What is your audience struggling with? Such as I create this presentation for my audience who is struggling with course creation because it feels overwhelming What is their current knowledge and what is their learning style? Is it audio, visual or text based?

02:05
Is it to learn at their own pace or in a group If you don't already have an audience you could consider an ideal client avatar However, I found this really challenging personally for myself. So instead I think about.

02:20
My previous self. What can I create that would have helped my previous self before I had the knowledge I have now? As Life Editor Sage Grayson says. You only need to be one step ahead.

02:37
The second W is where Where will your course be accessed and consumed, which is also the B4 Blueprint Will your course be accessed and consumed on your website, in a course platform, in a summit on social media, in a podcast or somewhere else? This matters because of the format and assets you can provide.

03:01
Your website in a course platform gives you a lot of options, whereas on a podcast you will need to make sure that you make the course audio. And on social media you will need to consider the size of the post.

03:14
3rd W is why. Why are you creating this course which is also the C for. Caring. You are creating the course because you care about your audience. You care about solving their problems, sharing your knowledge and making it easy to consume for them.

03:32
So the ABCs are.Audience. Blueprint and Caring. Consider who you are creating the course for, where the course will be accessed, and why you are creating the course.

03:45
The fourth W is what? What content will you be putting in the course? What will the course be about? And this is the start of our one two threes Beginning with.

03:57
One One solution to one problem. And my secret has been unlocked. Before. Creating courses, I thought a course had to be massive and include Every bit of knowledge I had on the one topic But this is not the case. I learned from Life Editor Sage Grayson To create courses with one solution for one problem.

04:21
For example, if you are creating a course about crafting. You don't need to put in every possible thing about crafting That would be huge and never ending. Instead you create a course about How to choose your wood pyrography tips or how to make a paper rose for beginners For the wood pyrography, your audience is struggling to choose their tips. And your solution is a how to guide And with the paper rose, your audience is struggling to create a paper rose and your solution is to show them how to.

04:56
Or changing it up Instead of creating a travel course about every type of travel in every place, you could create a course that is a weekend travel guide for a specific area Your audience's problem is they only have a weekend to explore the area.

05:11
And your solution is a travel guide The fifth and last W is when. When are you creating this course Is there a deadline Which is also number 2? 2 main times to create a course could be when you participate in an event.

05:30
Or when you identify a need For events. This might show up in the form of a presentation. That, depending on the event's terms, you repurpose into a course These events could include speaking in a summit, a podcast, a seminar or a live event And the other time you might create a course is when you identify a need.

05:52
I like to look at different groups to see what questions others are asking and if I can create something to address their question Or maybe your clients keep asking the same question Create a course for them The H is how.

06:09
How are you going to create your course Which is also number Three Three main types of tech you will need is something to create your course, a course host, and a course platform Currently for course creation, I use Canva to create slides, record myself speaking over slides, and editing the course For course Hosting, I use ScreenPal I have also used ScreenPal to record my screen while making tutorials.

06:38
And for my course post platform I use Tea Tree. Currently I'm affiliated with Tea Tree. However I am not affiliated with Canva or ScreenPal So the One2Three S are one solution to one problem.

06:53
Two times to create. And three types of tech Consider what you are creating When you are creating your course and how you will create your course In summary When creating a course, consider your audience.

07:10
Where you are creating for repurposing your reason Your one solution to one problem If there is a need or an event Or the tech that you will use.
