Olivier Caudron [00:00:00]:
Types are fascinating patterns that are best discovered holistically. Welcome to Beyond Personality Types, the original InterStrength™ podcast. Every week, we provide you with better ways to use and talk about personality theories. I am your host, Olivier Caudron, a self discovery facilitator. With me is Doctor Linda Berens, internationally renowned for her innovative typology approach. Come with us beyond the indicator results to rethink what you know about personality types. Hello and thank you for tuning in to beyond personality types.

Olivier Caudron [00:00:55]:
This is episode number 0, where I will introduce the podcast, our mission, our goals, who it is for, and what you can expect. Let's see how what we worked on will put you into orbit and help you go beyond personality types.

1. Introduction.

This show is unlike others because, although I am the host, I am not really the only one. There is also Doctor Linda Berens. She is kind of the co-host, or, I could say, the permanent guest if you want. Anyway, what I mean is that she and her conception of type are the heart of this show.

Olivier Caudron [00:01:50]:
I'll tell you more about it in a moment. For now on, let me introduce myself. I am Olivier Caudron. My background is in art, teaching, and healing. I have a degree in elementary school teaching and performing arts, plus certifications in neurolinguistic programming, psych-K, recall healing, and self-discovery. I have been a drama teacher and director for 20 years. Body-centered and movement were the base of my creative technique. My teaching always looked to help others to find ways to develop their gifts.

Olivier Caudron [00:02:30]:
I put my artistic career aside and embraced my other lifetime passions psychology and personal growth. I started a practice as a life coach in 2012 after relocating to New York City. In a nutshell, I am a drama teacher turned self discovery and confidence coach. I came to type on a journey to better understand myself and my life choices. As I said earlier, Doctor Linda Berens is the heart of this show. Doctor Berens is the co founder and the lead architect of certification model development and transformational change programs for InterStrength™. In addition to holding a license as marriage and family therapist and a doctorate in psychology, she also holds certification as a all holacracy facilitator and integral transformative leadership. Linda is a human and organizational development practitioner teaching professionals since 1982.

Olivier Caudron [00:03:39]:
She helps individuals and teams recognize their strengths, trancend weaknesses and work more efficiently together. Linda is recognized internationally for her theoretical contributions to the field of psychological type and for developing user friendly training materials for the practical application of understanding individual differences. After funding Temperament Research Institute in 1983, a corporate consulting and training organization dedicated to individual differences, she turned her attention to developing a more complete and integrated look at individual differences through the integral framework. She is the author and co author of multiple books and training materials including the Understanding Yourself and Others series. The Interstrength Institute founded by Doctor Berens and her daughter Stephanie Berens, provides trainings, a comprehensive framework and a community around the Interstrength™ approach. The Interstrength™ approach is a transformational personality type framework designed to help individuals understand themselves and others better fostering personal development and growth.

2. Why we're starting this podcast.

Linda's perspectives on psychological type were so mind blowing to me that after I took a course to become a certified InterStrength™ practitioner, I suggested we launch a podcast together to stream her vision to a larger audience.

Olivier Caudron [00:05:33]:
When I say mind blowing, I mean that thanks to her course I learned a more holistic way to talk and understand types beyond MBTI, the 4 letter type code and Jung's 8 cognitive function model. It improved my coaching practice so much that I wanted other type professionals and enthusiasts to have access to it.

3. What the podcast concept is.

The common theme throughout the episodes will be developing an integral perspective when we talk and use type. With an integral framework, we can better confirm our best fit and help others unveil theirs. In fact, when Doctor Berens developed the Interstrength™ approach, she added other models to the MBTI™ to provide more accurate results. She distanced herself from using instruments and developed an approach where the practitioner facilitates self discovery rather than types the person.

Olivier Caudron [00:06:54]:
She also looked for resources from other fields to support her vision and method. Therefore, the inspiration behind this podcast is to shed another light on the practices of the type.

4. What makes Beyond Personality types unique compared to other podcastsT

here are several excellent podcasts about personality types, MBTI™, the 8 cognitive functions model or the Enneagram. They explain the 16 or 9 patterns, the 4 letter codes and the cognitive functions. They help you understand, recognize or identify a type. You will agree with me that there was no need to add one more podcast about type. Nevertheless, what about one that teaches, coaches and gives us the keys to confidently and ethically help others reveal their preferences? That is what we aim with Beyond Personality types: to bring the conversation to the best use of personality identification.

Olivier Caudron [00:08:05]:
This means that to fully take advantage of the content we offer, it can be helpful that you already have a little idea about the 16 types of the Myers Briggs type indicator™ for instance or the 8 cognitive functions. Nevertheless, we will always be careful to provide some explanations or resources so don't worry too much we don't want to alienate anybody. This show mainly talks about expanding the borders of the type concepts.

5. Who the Beyond Personality Types podcast is for.

Beyond personality types can be a valuable source of information to everybody, of course. But let's say that if you are a type practitioner, if you added the use of an assessment instrument in your work, or if you are a type enthusiast, you will get more out of your art content.

Olivier Caudron [00:09:12]:
6. Why listeners will benefit from BPT, from beyond personality types. You'll all benefit from many insights that will improve your practice and your skills at reading someone or helping them identify their best fit. Linda's tremendous experience and research are also worthwhile and sometimes they are worth listening to several times. I have to be honest, to bring this integral mindset to you, we had to reassess methods like the MBTI™ and yes, we will sound like we are criticizing a well established system. It is also due to my own experience with personality instruments. You'll learn more about it in the show. And maybe you are like me a few years ago, lost in woods of letters and complicated theories and the incapacity to settle with your best fit type. You just look for some straightforward answers. We have them for you.

Olivier Caudron [00:10:26]:
You are maybe also, like me, impressed by the capacity of some to talk the jargon and type others as fast as they snap their fingers with such composure that you wonder if you will ever be able to type one day. The show will uplift your self esteem and give you the keys you sought. Finally, you might also have had to answer questions like whether it is possible to be both introverted and extroverted, to have several types or why parts of the report don't resonate. Beyond Personality Types is here now to save you and give you the perfect rational answers.

7. What a typical episode will look like.

We keep the episode under 30 minutes, which allows you to integrate the content better. I introduce the topic and share some of the takeaways you can expect from the episode.

Olivier Caudron [00:11:37]:
We follow with a conversation where Linda will share most of her incredible knowledge and experience. In the closing statement, I underline the key takeaways and suggest the best way to make good use of what you just listened to. Once again, we want you to feel confident about your knowledge, improve your technique and talk about type with an integral perspective. Actually, we help you develop an attitude beyond personality types.

8. What the programmation will look like.

In the first series of episodes, we set the base for developing a beyond personality types mindset in our practices and language. We address the troubles we noticed in and around the type world.

Olivier Caudron [00:12:43]:
In a second series, we cover how to avoid the pitfalls in our practices. In the 3rd series, we explore other models and how they contribute to having an integral approach.

9 What type of guests we hope to feature.

Although only Linda and I are behind the microphones during those first series, we plan to get some guests soon. We will talk with them about their way of going beyond personality types, how the InterStrength™ approach changed their life or work. We plan to invite other professionals in the field, fellow InterStrength™ practitioners, other podcast hosts and influencers. I already have names in my hat yet it is too early to talk about them. As they say, all in good time

10. Beyond the episodes. Extras and bonuses.

Olivier Caudron [00:13:56]:
There is more to it than the episodes. A newsletter, show notes and blog post accompany each episode, along with more tips and freebies. Sign up right now at beyondpersonalitytypes.com to get access to those bonuses.

11. How we plan to be in touch.

BPT is also on social media. Join us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Youtube at beyond personality types to prolong the conversation with us.

Olivier Caudron [00:14:49]:
12. What to expect from the first official episodeThe first episode is about why personality type assessments are sometimes under criticism and how to manage them or avoid being criticized ourselves. Next time someone shrugs at you about the MBTI™, you'll know what to do and what to say to turn that into a fruitful conversation. Well, I believe that I covered everything that I wanted to cover. Thank you so much for listening to today's episode. If you enjoyed this discussion, we'd really appreciate it if you could leave a rating and review to help others find the show. Remember to subscribe if you don't want to miss next week's episode. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram at beyond personality types. Thanks again for tuning in.
