Welcome back to Part 5 of the Energy Reset series! 🌿 In this episode, we dive into how to release stuck energy using effort and intention. Sometimes, relaxing isn’t enough to move the energy, and that’s when you can apply a little more focus and effort to guide the energy down and out of your body.
Welcome back to Part Five of the Energy Reset process. We've been talking about how to release energy, either by relaxing or by using the method I’ll be discussing today. Let’s go ahead and recap.
If you're in a place where you can follow along with me safely (and you’re not driving), I encourage you to do so. Let’s practice what we’ve learned so far in the first four sections. Follow along to get some grounding done and to see how it doesn’t take a lot of time to do it.
You can have your eyes open or closed. Just settle into wherever you are—seated or standing.
Bring your awareness to your breath. Take a nice, deep breath in through your nose, and be aware of the air as it moves from your nose down into your lungs, expanding your lungs, shoulders, and belly. Then breathe out.
On the next breath, deepen your awareness of the air’s movement in your shoulders, chest, and belly as you breathe in and out. With each breath, deepen your awareness further and start to notice what you feel in your body—whether it's tightness, discomfort, a memory, fear, or anxiety. Whatever it is, notice where it appears in your body. Just observe it, like a witness.
As you stay present with that sensation, notice its boundaries, dimensions, shape, movement, or color. Stay in observing mode as you continue to breathe. Just being with it for 30, 60, or 90 seconds will begin to facilitate a release.
You’ll know you’re releasing if you feel a softening, a melting, or a relaxing in that area.
Now, if you have a lot to release, once you release one thing, something else may come forward for you to release. You can stay in this focusing method, relaxing and letting the release happen naturally.
However, if the sensation gets too big, too intense, or it’s just not moving—if you feel stuckness or tightness that won’t budge—then it's time to use a little effort.
When I say "effort," I mean using your intention and your ability to control your body to move that stuck energy.
Again, you don’t need to understand the source of the sensation right now. What we want is to release what’s ready to go. If it's something that needs deeper awareness or engagement, don’t worry—it will come back. But if it's ready to be gone, you just need to help it move.
You can apply a little effort by bringing your awareness to the area and starting to move the sensation. Use the muscles in your body to move it. For example, when we have a bowel movement, we use our belly muscles to push. Or when we lift our arms, we use the muscles in our back. Similarly, you can use your shoulders to push energy down if it’s stuck in your chest.
Notice where the sensation is, and using the muscles above that area, start to move it down your body. Tighten your shoulders or chest, and push it down. Once it’s below your ribcage, tighten your ribcage and belly. Continue pushing the sensation down and out, through your root or through the chair if you're seated. If you're standing, push it down through your legs into the earth.
If this feels like too much effort, you may need to expand your awareness of the space. Sometimes we think too narrowly, like pushing down a tennis ball, when we really need to imagine something bigger, like a beach ball. Widen your awareness and push it down.
You can repeat this process as needed. If the sensation persists, do another round. A good technique is to use your breath—inhale as if the breath is helping to push down, and exhale with the intention of pushing the energy down into the earth. Do this a few times, then return to simply focusing and see if the release happens.
If the sensation gets stuck in your belly, take a breath, notice the sensation, and once again create that expanded awareness. Push it down using the muscles in your belly and chest.
I always recommend making your effort bigger than the sensation you're feeling. If the tightness is as wide as your shoulders, make your effort a little wider. If the tightness below your ribcage is the size of a softball, expand your effort beyond that size as you push it down.
Once you’ve pushed everything into the earth, be mindful of how you release it. Become aware of the pile of energy you've sent down and imagine it exploding into a million pieces, allowing the earth to recycle it.
Remember, sometimes grounding only requires relaxation and focusing. Other times, you may need to apply a little effort, especially if the sensation becomes too big or too intense. Stay in awareness—don't go into the emotion, memory, or sensation. Use your muscles, imagination, and intention to guide the energy down into the earth.
Practice this over the next few days as you continue your grounding practice. Our goal is to ground as much as possible during the month of October. By the end of the month, you’ll likely feel a greater sense of peace, control, and clarity in your energy system.
I’d love for you to share your experiences! If you have questions or are feeling stuck, let me know, and I’ll provide more strategies based on what you're encountering.
Again, I'm Janie Jaramillo. Thank you so much for joining me, and come back next time as we continue the Energy Reset series.
