Jess [00:00:00]:
You're. Welcome to Coffee Break with Jess. This is the place to get a much needed break from the chaos of life. Come together and refill with me. Together we tackle some hard truths and be redirected to success away from trauma, pain, and upset that we may be carrying. Today's episode is a part of the series The Anxiety Free Entrepreneur, and this episode is called God Gives the Vision. We are all humans. Like, the one thing that we can do in life is be a human.
Jess [00:00:45]:
And sometimes we do dumb things. We are driven by our needs and wants. Sometimes it's blinding us to the point where we don't even know how we ended up where we did. We were so stuck on the vision of what we thought our life would be, or how a relationship will end up, or how our businesses would perform, or how our children will come. We do that so much that we almost always leave God out of the equation. We forget that he knows the plans of our life. Not us, not our heart, not how we feel. He has plans for us, plans for good.
Jess [00:01:34]:
And all he asks is that we submit our wants and our needs to Him so he can take what we want, what we need, and multiply it. We must submit, receive, and trust the plans that he has given us. No matter what it looks like, no matter how it feels, no matter what Billy, Sam, Gina, Tyrone are doing, we must listen and receive. We must take what we're given and do our part moving forward. This past year has been filled with more downs than ups. We've lost so many people. We have missed out on opportunities of being able to see family members that we once were able to see at a drop of a hat. We live in a place now where we have to be careful when we go to the grocery stores.
Jess [00:02:37]:
We can't take our kids to the park for that time away. That alone has shown us just being here right now in 2021, that we have our father through this storm. And no matter what has happened around us, no matter what has happened to us, no matter who we've lost or what we lost, he gives us comfort and he provides the direction to the vision. One of the lessons that I was very hesitant to learn was that he can't be the calm in the storm. If you have no storm, he can't be there with you. He can't be the provider. He can't be the I am. If you have no storm, if everything went right all the time and went exactly how you envision it to go, where would that leave God in your life? How would he become your I am.
Jess [00:03:58]:
How would he become your comfort? How would he become everything you need? If you thought that all you had to do was think and it's going to come right to you. All I got to do is see it, and then I'm going to go get it. But we constantly throw God out of the equation. We constantly toss Him to the side. Like, he didn't create us. He didn't have a plan for our life. So even though you may feel like you're in the midst of a storm or you feel a storm brewing, or you're deep into the storm where you can't see up, you can't see down, you don't know where you're going. You don't know what's helping you stand.
Jess [00:04:48]:
You don't know. Just know that he's there with you. With every bad phone call you got, he's there with you. Every loss, he's there with you. He's always there. So one thing that I'm challenging myself to do, and I want to invite you to the challenge, is to stop thinking. Just stop. We're not particularly good at it sometimes, but just stop trying to figure everything out.
Jess [00:05:27]:
No matter what it is, no matter if it has something to do with your kids, your health, anything, give it to him. Submit it to your father. Talk to him, invite you in. Invite him in to your home. Let him increase in you with every breath that you take. One of the greatest lessons that I learned in the past couple of years is no matter what you think or feel, god wants what's best for you. And that's hard. It's so hard to believe.
Jess [00:06:09]:
As a child of trauma, abandonment, and abuse, I can tell you this is one of my hardest battles. It's ongoing with being able to trust or find comfort in anyone around me. I find myself fighting myself just to trust that God has what's best for me, because the people who were supposed to love me, the people who were supposed to be there unconditionally, were not. So I was conditioned not to trust anybody. And I don't know why I thought that that just meant people here on Earth. And that was it. That was the end of it. God knows what's best for you.
Jess [00:07:04]:
He knows what's best for me. And it's not easy. It is in no way, shape or form easy. And it's definitely not going to be something that happens overnight. But you start trusting with just one thing. Just trust Him with one thing. And my one thing that I dedicated to trusting Him with was my business. The fact that he gave me this business in the midst of an abusive and combative marriage, the midst of losing my job after having my son, after six months, having to move from my apartment, having to start over.
Jess [00:07:54]:
He says, start this business. And I don't know about you, but I did not see this turning out for my good. I just didn't see it. There was no way, shape or form that is shaped to being good in my life. But it was it was one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. Every loss has shown me that this is what's best for me. Every loss. I see the gain now.
Jess [00:08:31]:
I see the healing. I see the places where I thought I wasn't going to make it. But yet I'm still here. And I'm doing better than people I grew up with and people who have went through similar things. All because I decided to walk with Him when all of that was happening in my life. And I asked Him, I am not the one that was just like, okay, whatever you say, God. I was like, Are you sure? Are you talking to me? Are you positive? Because this is stupid. I don't understand how this is going to work out for my good.
Jess [00:09:12]:
He said, trust and know that I am God. And eight years later, here I am, doing exactly what I love to do, doing what I get excited about doing each and every day. I'm healed from the things that were meant to break me. He made me whole. But that doesn't mean I'm not still struggling to trust Him with the little that he gave me. I still find myself struggling. And it's okay because it's a relationship. And I had to learn that this relationship takes work.
Jess [00:10:00]:
Any relationship takes work. But this one just took a little bit more trusting. My little business blossomed from a vision. Until this. I have multiple businesses. I'm helping thousands of people walk in the vision that God has given them. Even though I had the hope and I saw what could be, sometimes you fall in love with the potential of things. I still carried the fear.
Jess [00:10:44]:
And in 2019, I was diagnosed with a pseudo tumor in my brain. I was crippled with more than fear. It wasn't just the fear of failure. It was the fear of losing my eyesight. It was the fear of losing my businesses. Because how it was the fear of not being able to enjoy life with my son like I wanted to. It didn't line up with the vision that I had. So now I met with the fact that I could have no vision.
Jess [00:11:31]:
And once again, in a panic and an upset, I heard it again. Just trust and know that I am. Be still and trust me. So I went. I shut down my businesses because I had to focus on my health. And once I started trusting Him, I had made so much progress to where the immediate side effects of my diagnosis was fading away. In the midst of that, I lost years of memories. But it was things that would hinder me, that would have kept me from going forward.
Jess [00:12:26]:
And then in the midst of just really getting into high gear and running, rolling, excited, happy, covet happened. Me, my son, my sister, my brother, we all had COVID and it knocked me off track. I went backwards. I failed I fail. But he was there to catch me this time. He was there to comfort me, just like he said he would. He was there to provide for me, just like he said he would. I just had to submit to him.
Jess [00:13:14]:
My wants, my needs, my upsets, my disappointments, the fact that I needed help, I needed direction. I gave it to him. I gave everything to him. And in the midst of a pandemic, I did what I never thought I would do. And I helped so many people. And that one business that he planted to see, for, to tell me to go, go with faith, go with trust, has now turned into five. And I am helping people all over the world with their businesses. Things that they didn't think they could accomplish, I'm helping them accomplish.
Jess [00:14:13]:
So I'm going to keep trusting. I'm going to keep asking, I'm going to keep submitting to ensure that the vision I had eight years ago to help so many women build their businesses to be birthed out of violence, to shed the trauma, shed the pain that is holding tight to them, keeping them from moving forward. I'm going to ensure that that vision of helping them is coming to pass by doing what I'm supposed to do, which is trusting God. If I chose to look at my circumstances eight years ago, I wouldn't be here in more way than one, I wouldn't have been here. So I'm going to trust God. Trusting God more and more is showing fruit in my life and in the lives I touch. So I'm going to trust God with my entire heart. And once you start trusting, once you start saying yes, giving your yes, my yes was teaching.
Jess [00:15:37]:
My yes was using my voice to help others. My yes was doing live classes. That's what my yes looked like. That's what he required of me. And once you say yes, you get direction. Oh, you get the vision and write it down. Just write whatever you receive now and continue to submit your wants, your needs, everything that you ever need, you ask your father. Get focused, get determined.
Jess [00:16:20]:
This lesson is something even I need to come back with, I have to come back to as a reminder, when times gets rough, when things don't look all that well, things aren't going well, I have to come back and remember that God has a plan for my life, for your life. No matter how it feels, everything is working out for your good. Even the heartache, the loneliness, the brokenness, is all working out for your good. Now, one thing that was made extremely clear to me in starting my journey was that sometimes when you start saying yes to God and you start trusting Him, it sometimes creates anxiety, and it's forcing you, it's literally forcing you to let go of your survival mind and trust in Him. And that's where this season of the podcast comes from with the anxiety-free entrepreneur. So over the next couple of episodes, we're going to dive into disarming anxiety so that we can move forward and what we see and become who we're supposed to become and make it to our good. So if you're looking for someone to be with you, to talk to or stand with you as you're moving towards that vision, know that I'm here. I would love to be your accountability and support person in this.
Jess [00:18:13]:
