Daniel F. Korn is the chairman of the Social Studies department at Porter Ridge High School and a teacher of Advanced Placement U.S. History and Civil War in Union County Public Schools in North Carolina. He has been both a Civil War and Revolutionary War reenactor, and in his spare time helps assist with another love, his high school team’s football program. His unique style of teaching has been acknowledged and honored by a number of national awards as well as recognition by both the United States and North Carolina House of Representatives. His first novel; Dawn’s Gray Steel has been universally acclaimed for its realistic portrayal of its characters and Korn’s incredibly vivid depiction of the story of the battle of Shiloh. Korn holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the State University of New York at Brockport. Dan and his wife, Cheryl enjoy travel, and Dan often speaks on various aspects of American history to historical and civic groups around the country, and consults for various historical and education groups around the country. Tennessee Thunder is his second book.
