In today's episode, we explore the importance of embracing pauses in our fast-paced lives. Inspired by everyday scenarios like traffic stops, we delve into how these moments can be opportunities for reflection and observation rather than sources of frustration or anxiety.
Key Takeaways:
The Traffic Metaphor: Life often feels like stop-and-go traffic, where unexpected pauses lead to impatience and speculation about unseen obstacles.
Mindful Observation: Instead of creating imaginary scenarios during a pause, use it as a chance to breathe deeply and observe your surroundings. Find beauty in simple things—a flower by the roadside or an unnoticed billboard.
Breaking Habits: Our minds are conditioned to constantly move forward due to ingrained habits from childhood routines. Recognizing this pattern allows us to consciously cultivate new habits that include intentional stopping and observing.
Receiving Messages: When seeking clarity or answers, remember that messages might be right in front of you. Pausing helps open up space for receiving insights you may otherwise overlook.
Actionable Insights:
- Next time you're stopped—whether physically at a light or mentally with writer's block—take a deep breath and look around you.
- Practice gratitude by identifying something beautiful or interesting you've never noticed before.
- Cultivate awareness around habitual rushing; introduce mindful breaks into your daily routine.
- Stay open-minded during pauses—they could hold the key message you've been searching for without realizing it.
Final Thoughts:
Embracing stillness is not just about slowing down but also being receptive to life's subtle messages amidst chaos. Let go of unnecessary narratives your mind creates during stops, allowing yourself instead to find peace within them.

Hello, everyone, and good morning, Kim. Good morning, Jill. Good morning, everyone.
Today's message. What is today's message? Wow, it just went blank. Let's see what they have for us. Okay. Moving forward. Today, I feel like I'm stopping and going, stopping and going. Like my car is moving forward. And like, yay, we're moving. And you get excited and all of a sudden, oh, now we gotta stop.
And then you're... I see you looking all around the cars to be like, what's stopping us? Why isn't anybody moving? You know how that is in traffic. You're like, yes. And then... and then I get the whole curiosity, like, was there an accident up there? Gosh, this is actually pretty funny how our minds instantly go into... there's a judgment thing. There's a, like, curiosity thing. There's like, I gotta get somewhere. I can hear everybody's thoughts just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Why are we stopping?
And then you conjure up a whole big scenario as to the reason why you stopped. That's what we're talking about; too many of you today are going to let your minds wander and try and create a scene that's not even truthful—that has nothing to pertain to the reason why you're being stopped. Wow.
There's no accident; nobody did anything wrong; nobody cut anybody off. There's just a natural flow that happened with the stoplights. Let it be. But you want to create this big scene that something big is making you stop back here.
No! Today, when you get stopped—exactly—take a deep breath. When you get stopped, it doesn't matter where it is; it doesn't have to be driving. It could be at the computer screen; it could be where somebody's talking to you and all of a sudden your mind just goes completely blank—like mine did when we came on.
Just... I thought it was going somewhere and then, nope, that was gone. That's exactly what we're doing today. We're going to help you to stop just to be in the moment. Try not to create a bigger picture or a bigger scene than what you think might be happening.
They're like, no, no, no—this has nothing to do with that. Going to come back in, take a deep breath, and we're going to look all around us. I feel like I'm looking all around my car now and I'm just going to stop and I'm going to look around at the scene and try and find the beauty—something that's pretty around you; what you view as pretty.
To me, often I see a flower and I'm like, oh look at that pretty flower! Oh! Oh! There's that billboard! I haven't seen that billboard; I pass this road all the time I've never seen that billboard! That's exactly what we're doing.
You've been asking for messages; we're going to put a stop sign in front of your face and we're going to have you look around—and our message is going to be right in front of you but you're not seeing it—so we're going to make you stop.
Stop and see! Yep! I like it! That's a beautiful message actually.
We go go go! I notice even out of habit from years and years and years of getting up from when I was a kid—going to school—getting up—going to work—all this stuff that generally Monday to Friday—my brain will just kick in and start going going going going—even if I don't have a whole lot that I have to be doing real soon!
Years later my brain will still do that because it's just such a powerful habit we're trained into—and that's what this is that you're describing: it's a very powerful habit that we have to go and go and go—but we do need to have a powerful habit of stopping and observing!
Especially like you said when we're asking for messages: when we’re asking—we're getting it—we need to be open to receive it—and that requires a pause or a stop.
That's lovely; just lovely.
Ah! Thank you Jill! Thank you everyone! Yes! Thank you Kim—a beautiful message once again! We hope you love and enjoy them—and until next time!
