Hello, everyone, and good morning, Kim. Good morning, Jill. Good morning, everyone. Today I have a song for you: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." I bet every single one of you knows what this song is. You can probably have a whole bunch of memories of when you heard the song and what you did—the dance, dancing around to it. It's a fun song; it's just got that catchy quality.
But when I was asking why that song and what the meaning is, I was actually drawn to look up the meaning on the Internet, and I was surprised by the meaning that they had in there. You guys can totally look it up if you want to in your own time. So then I asked, in reference to our listeners, what then is the meaning?
I got the image of, oh, that there's a lion around you that is sleeping and we're trying to keep the lion asleep around us. So it's like you're sneaking by a lion, you're sneaking by what would be maybe authority—something that's very fearful that you might be perceiving as fearful. But it's not that you're trying to sneak by and not have to deal with it; it's more like that's fine, that can stay asleep. It doesn't need to come at you; it doesn't need to charge at you.
The lion doesn't need to wake up and be really scary. It's more like you can walk by as the lion is sleeping, and you could be like, "I see you, I recognize you. Thank you for staying calm." And you can continue to be calm on your journey and get by whatever fear that you may be perceiving or authoritative person—whomever you might view as the lion, the person you feel wants to attack you.
And they're talking crap about you? No, let them stay over there. Let them go to sleep while you open up your mind and see things differently. You're like, "Wow, that's going to be there; it's not going away." But I can actually walk by and not have it affect me. It's like your perception changes around whoever or whatever that lion is. They can stay sleepy, and you can dance on by.
Yeah, yeah! That's a creative and fun explanation of that. It's fun! Yeah, right? Exactly. Sometimes too, there are things that come up in your day or in your own mind often, and you're like, "That lion needs to go to sleep." Yep! And then like you said, dance on by it. I love it.
Kim, that's wonderful! Just an odd take on that song—I questioned it but kept getting the same answer. So that's what I have to say: it was a surprise take! Love it! Thank you.
Yeah! Thank you, everyone. Thank you, Jill. All right, until next time!
