Hello, everyone, and good morning, Kim. Good morning, Jill. Good morning, everyone. Hope everyone had a fabulous last couple of days. If you listen to us on a regular basis, we are coming into a Monday morning. We had a few days off from doing these dailies. See what they have to say for us today.
Okay. Thought they were going to go this way, but here we go. It's the mirror. A mirror effect. Patrick keeps popping up in front of me because I got a mirror. And it's all about self-reflection today. Reflecting back. So how they're getting it is like what I'm saying. If I'm saying it outward, the person in front of you needs to hear it, but you also need to see yourself saying it. It's very interesting.
Yeah. Okay. I'm holding a mirror, and I'm watching myself say this. I'm watching how my body language is expressing itself as I'm saying this to this person, which this person needs to hear the message in a loving, kind, gentle way. But if you watch yourself and you see yourself getting antsy or moving around or pay attention to your facial expressions, if there's any sort of judgment that you recognize out of yourself that you're like, "Oh, I didn't like how I looked." Yeah, that's you. So you're actually throwing judgment out while you're saying it, even though you believe that you are saying everything with love and kindness and positive intention.
So I hear, okay, there's a practice today: looking in a mirror. You should put the mirror in front of you. They're showing me my phone. Pull your camera up on your phone and turn it towards yourself and just watch how you say something to somebody. It's pretty amazing when you don't even realize some of the things that you're trying to say with love and attention, but yet inside of you, it's actually not—you're not even being very truthful.
This isn't for everybody; I hear this is for a select few that are listening. So if somebody is taking something differently than what you are intending it to come out as—so say I tell Jill, "Jill, I love you," and then she's over there like, "What? Huh?" and kind of does a little self-questioning like, "Did she just say that to me?" There might be something on her rant that they're like—that's not about that—not talking about that today; we're talking about inside.
And I look at myself in the mirror and say, "Wow, did she not hear me? Did I not say that correctly?" And it's because of the way you put it out there. You've got some lack of truth going on and you don't even realize it's happening.
Wow. Well, yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking—wow—lack of truth going on.
I said right? Can you give a little more context about lack of truth? Is it like not as authentic?
Like yeah, it's like—it’s a belief that you believe. So I'll go back to "I love you," Shell. Like I truly believe I love you, but maybe I don't. Maybe inside of me the lack of truth is: do you know what love is? Do you know the meaning of love? Are you expressing out love? So there's something to do with love inside of me that maybe I don't quite understand what my love really means—how to project true, authentic love for me—not what Jill perceives it as—but me.
It could be where I'm telling somebody like, "Oh, you're doing such a great job," but yet inside I might be having some little bit of judgment that "Well, probably won't be the way I would do it." They're doing a great job but maybe not the way I would do it. How can you express? How can you truly say you're doing a good job if something inside of you is saying "Well, I could have done it better" or "I could do it this way?"
Yeah, I get it. I think there's a really important simple practice in this which is just to very gently ask ourselves: where is there a lack of truth in me? Not judgmental—you know we're not harming ourselves as we say it—we are literally just very curious.
Just had a conversation with a friend of mine this week and she always talks about her curious heart—like to bring her curious heart to something—and so bring your curious heart and then ask—you know.
It's really—they're going back to the mirror in front of me today; it's a very good mirror day. It's a positive mirror day; it's a positive self-reflection type day. That doesn't mean we're sitting there saying all these positive affirmations—like you guys know how to do that work; you really do—you've come a long way.
Go deeper! Yeah! Be curious! Be curious!
Yep! I love that! Very good!
I do too! Let's go! It's so simple that—you know—don't miss the power in this being my suggestion—and I'm kind of talking to myself about this—like don't just brush this one off Jill.
Yeah! This is really powerful! So coming with a curious heart!
Yep! And then we're going to ask—go deeper—and where am I? Where am I not bringing truth?
Yep! Yep!
Yes! We're—what truth am I missing or—
Nope—not that!
Exactly!
Yeah! Okay! It's more of where is my authentic truth in this?
Oh! I like that! That's really nice!
Where is my authentic truth in this?
Very nice! That's amazing!
Okay thank you everyone! Thank you Jill! Thank you Kim! This is wonderful!
Enjoy your day everyone and thank you for listening—and until next time!
