[00:00:13] When you start your podcasting journey, you may feel overwhelmed. There's a lot to learn, and the terminology can be confusing. Here are some core terms you'll want to be familiar with as you get the ball rolling. Number one editing suite. This is software used to edit and enhance podcast recordings. Common examples include Audacity, Adobe Audition, which I myself use, and GarageBand.
[00:00:34] Number two - show notes. This is a written summary or outline of each podcast episode. It often includes timestamps for key topics, guest information, and relevant links. Show notes. Help listeners follow along and find specific content within an episode.
[00:00:49] Number three - the intro and outro. The introductory and concluding segments of a podcast. Pretty simple. The intro typically includes the show's name, episode number, and a brief overview, while the outro often includes closing remarks. A Call to Action and Contact Information.
[00:01:05] Number four - The RSS Feed. This stands for really simple syndication. It's a web feed format that allows podcast content to be automatically delivered to subscribers when a new episode is released. Podcast platforms use RSS feeds to deliver your content to directories such as Apple, Podcasts, Spotify, and all of the others that you may be familiar with.
[00:01:28] And then finally, hosting provider. This is a service such as PodOps Hosting. This is where your podcast lives, and this is a platform that can generate and help feed your RSS feed into podcast directories like the aforementioned Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
[00:01:46] These terms are starting point in your podcasting journey. There are many more to learn, but this will help you build a strong base. Are there any new podcasting terms that you've recently learned? Share them in the comments of this episode at PodOpsHost.com/Tips.
