Some leaders are haunted by failure or the things that went wrong. That may have made you a bit more risk-averse or self-conscious.
Others may be burdened by their success. You may have had something amazing work in your career, or business and that is awesome for most leaders. It helps build credibility, and gives others an indicator of your track record. It can often be a motivator for when things get tough and uncertainty reigns.
Others, may put the cue in the rack and use that success as their reason for maintaining leadership roles and positions. They rest on their laurels, it's like the pubs and clubs filled with many people who never fulfilled their potential. The I could have been a champion. Everyone has met that person.
The past is our experience, our track record, our credibility. Respect it, learn from it, be proud of it, but lead for today. That's what Today's Leaders do, they lead today and they do that by not being burdened by the past or over-leaning on it.
