In times of stress, and especially with the challenges faced during the COVID pandemic, it's more important than ever for healthcare providers to take care of themselves. This episode of the Hope4Med podcast features Dr. Amy Comander, director of breast oncology and survivorship at the Mass General Cancer Center in Waltham and Newton-Wellesley hospital. She is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology, as well as in lifestyle medicine. Dr. Comander discusses the pillars of lifestyle medicine and how these pillars are beneficial not only for patients but also for healthcare providers. We talk about the challenges faced by healthcare professionals during the COVID pandemic and some of the silver linings we've found during these difficult times. We also discuss the importance of community and feeling connected with our colleagues in helping to decrease burnout.
