Cortisol is often misunderstood as simply a stress hormone, but it actually plays a crucial role in the body's daily functions. Produced by the adrenal glands, cortisol helps regulate metabolism, immune response, and blood pressure. It is essential for maintaining energy levels and overall well-being.

While cortisol is commonly associated with stress, it is important to note that it serves a protective function in the body. In times of acute stress, cortisol helps mobilize resources for fight or flight responses.
