Good morning. In this morning's podcast, I was thinking of a couple of situations that I ran into this past week with just such. There's such difficult issues, the type of things that people come across where they just don't seem to have answers for in this life.

Like a wonderful young lady that I'm working with, married, has one child; they wanted to have another child, so they decided to try. She got pregnant and she just went through a miscarriage. Absolutely devastating for her. And then the question, why? Why? No simple answers. Nobody has those answers.

And then that's just one situation that I've dealt with this past week with clients in therapy, others with anxiety, ongoing depression, not able to find answers to pull themselves out of a deep depression. One individual has been on medications for a long time; they don't seem to be working. Parents don't seem to be able to help. Some encouragement comes from therapy and getting them at least to get up and get out and exercise and do some things rather than isolate. And so he was committed to do that. At least kept him alive another week, but his depression had reached levels where he just doesn't want to live anymore. Very, very hard situations.

And I'm thinking of this. Oh, a couple thoughts: Just remember, wherever you are at, it ain't over yet. Just because you don't have the answer today does not mean you're not going to find it.

You ever heard of the Gordian Knot? G-O-R-D-I-A-N knot refers to a complex, seemingly unsolvable problem derived from the legend of Alexander the Great cutting the knot tied by King Gordius, foretelling the future ruler of Asia. So here’s a more detailed explanation: According to the legend, King Gordias of Phrygia tied a complex knot on the yoke of his ox cart and dedicated it to Zeus. The prophecy was an oracle foretold that whosoever could untie the knot would rule all of Asia.

When Alexander the Great arrived in Gordium, he was challenged to untie the knot. Instead of trying to untangle it, he drew his sword and cut through it, thus cutting the Gordian knot. The metaphor—the phrase cutting the Gordian knot—has come to mean solving a difficult problem with a bold, decisive action, often bypassing conventional methods.

So kind of how we can use that today? Today, a Gordian knot is used to describe a complex and intractable problem. Cutting the Gordian knot signifies a forceful or extreme solution to a difficult situation. I know many that I've talked with and am familiar with today are dealing with situations like this with their own children. Matter of fact, I don't know actually anybody—now that I think of it—those that I'm fairly close to who are parents and grandparents who aren't struggling with some type of an issue with one of their children or grandchildren that are dealing with significant mental health issues or addiction issues.

Always searching for a solution, trying to find a way to help, encourage—searching for medical advice, therapeutic advice—anything that might produce healing. Some of these situations can be extremely challenging and weigh heavily upon loved ones as they're looking for relief.

But as I'm sitting here pondering this morning and looking at all of the different methods out there—there are hundreds of different methods of psychotherapy: "Do this," "Do that." You know, like this specific thing will work; that will work; this will work; that will work—everyone is... It's like a Gordian knot. Everyone has their individual complex issues.

What are they carrying with them? Is there transgenerational trauma that has gone unhealed? For some reason individuals just seem to carry something with them from the day they were born? A lot of individuals that I've worked with in therapy say they just always felt a certain way, and they don't know why. You know, I've always felt this intense anxiety or this intense depression or I've never been able to really relax and feel at peace—but I don't remember any significant horrible thing that happened to me.

I've had clients express that to me before along with those clients who have had very significant traumatic things happen to them that impact them and have a tendency to keep them stuck.

I guess the point is the thoughts this morning: wherever you are at, however discouraged you might be—just a thought came to me this morning—it ain't over yet! We're given difficult situations to perhaps keep testing us, trying us, strengthening us.

And I guess the question always comes back to this one central theme: It doesn't so much matter what happens to us in life because time and chance happen to us all. There are many things that happen in this life where there simply are no explanations for—you know? Why does someone have a miscarriage when they're completely healthy and everything seems fine and they desire a child with all their heart, might, mind and soul? Why do those things happen? Why does tragedy happen? Why do accidents happen?

We do not have answers to those questions. So then we just simply got to come back to this one foundational idea: It doesn't matter so much what happens to us as what we choose to do about it. How do we choose to confront this particular situation?

We just need to get up; we just need to keep trying; we need to adapt—a kind of warrior's mindset of adapt, improvise, overcome whatever challenge comes our way—we'll continue to try! I know there are times when we just get so weary that we're tired of doing that but it's really the only option: Just get up; just keep trying; just put one foot in front of the other.

And it's in the process of doing that—solutions line upon line; precept upon precept will emerge—we just continue to live; we continue to move forward; we continue to try; we continue to learn—and not let discouragements overtake us.

In this particular day and age—with all of the things going on with social media—the attack on the human mind—what grabs our attention grabs us—there are so many powerful forces out there; so many discouraging things can consume us—we just got to choose  fight! Gotto choose  fight for your own mind! Fight for your freedom!

And if there are things consuming you that you're not liking about yourself—take a look at your personal weaknesses! If you're struggling with personal addiction issues—anxiety; depression—just maintain that warrior mentality: "I just gotto get up!" Just gotto keep moving forward! Just gotto keep putting one foot in front of the other!

And sometimes instead of wallowing around in your misery—just get up! Get moving! Decide  do something—and act on something! It's in the acting phase of putting one foot in front of the other—that solutions will begin  emerge before you!

That has been my experience—but we cannot—I mean experience not only in my own life but working with several clients—just keep trying! Let's set some goals for this week! Let's work on things; let's reflect! Let's sit down next week and go: "All right! How did it go? What worked? What didn't work?" Adapt! Improvise! Overcome!

Keep trying with that mindset—and just realize as we are involved in the process there will be some things—I think it's Carl Jung who once said—the true problems in life are never going fully solved—they're not meant  be—it’s constant working at them gives life its meaning!

So if you are faced with an extreme challenge that seems like the Gordian Knot—take courage! Let's go! This is an awesome opportunity for me  continue growing and developing! Why have whatever gods there might be in the universe placed this particular challenge and trial before me—or how have I gotten myself into this mess?

Especially anyone who's struggling  an addiction: Be accountable for your own decisions  choices! Be kind  yourself—in a way understanding how things get started—but no matter where you’re at in the process—it’s like—you know what? No matter reasons why I started down this path—I have my ability choose for myself—to stop this—and take control my life!

If this particular behavior is troubling me; if this particular relationship is troubling me—I choose embrace challenge courageously bravely—and I will learn speak truth boldly—even if there's opposition—and I will act on my convictions—even if unpopular—and I'll choose approach life excitement positive energy!

Just make choice love adventure life feel fully alive! There are reasons why we did not create ourselves—so let's go! There are reasons why we're faced tremendous opposition our lives—let's have mindset: What can I learn from this?

What can I learn? And when you think you've reached point where you cannot take another step—you know—the truth is we can—we really can! We just get up and keep trying!

No doubt there are so many very challenging things hurtful in life—you know? If you've ever experienced betrayal—being betrayed by friends or family... well... there's a—I don’t want go down that rabbit hole... Many different ways you can experience where someone didn't really have your back; didn't seem they cared for you; didn't seem they really were mindful how felt wanted help you process through some things—that they weren't kind  you.

We've all experienced things like that! Use those experiences learn—not be way other people right? Remember a statement by Greek philosopher who says—the greatest revenge is be unlike those who caused injury.

So let's just continue get up keep moving forward make decision—to again have warrior's mindset—you live for reason! Make best your life—do not let negative things overwhelm you! Choose fight! Choose stand up!

So take look yourself take inventory where you're at—you have do on continual basis—but then honor truth about what's going on—but then choose move forward positive direction—with mindset: "I will figure out way solve Gordian Knot situations my life by bold action!"

Make determined action! If you're struggling with something act on something! Do something!

So that's what I would leave you within podcast: Whatever issue confronting right now that's troubling you—do something about it! Act in way—I mean—you have use your wisdom try be appropriate—but do something about it!

If it's been bothering you while try figure out solution by doing something little different maybe unconventional way-something haven't tried before!

If methods you've tried haven't worked do something little different see—and just keep working on process: Adapt improvise overcome!

All right—have great day!
